Its nature is not to abandon all afflictions, not to realize the true limit by mastering wisdom and means, and to perform activities such as taming beings who have not yet been tamed. So, what are such paths, namely, the wisdom of the path? And how should they be understood? Briefly speaking about the wisdom of the path of the Hearers. The principle of the wisdom of the path is: When one does not focus on the aspects of the four noble truths, one should understand this path of the Hearers. That is the (principle). Among them, the truth of suffering is: the characteristic of being subject to arising and ceasing, namely impermanence; being painful because of having contaminated things, namely, because of not conforming to the nature of the noble ones; being selfless because the meaning of the agent is emptiness, namely, selflessness; and being peaceful because the characteristic of the essence is not established, these are the four aspects. The truth of the origin is: being the root of the cause of the arising of unpleasant feelings, namely, like a disease; arising like a fruit because of the arising of the fruit of suffering, namely, the origin; arising extremely like a thorn because of becoming the condition for the arising of unbearable feelings; and destroying extremely because many fears arise continuously, namely, the four aspects of the nature of the condition like a sin. Both suffering and origin, also because external opponents intervene to harm, namely, like an enemy from another side; being fearful and unreliable because of harm, namely, the nature of destruction, namely, the two characteristics of renunciation; being unstable because the nature is not stable, namely, shaking; and destroying extremely because it destroys spontaneously without cause, namely, the two characteristics of detachment from desire; being fearful because it becomes a place of harm in this life and the next; being like an infectious disease because harmful people such as meat-eaters inflict harm; and being the aspect of harm because it is oppressed by various internal and external causes. These are the three aspects of entering into what should be abandoned. Thus, one should know that there are seven aspects by subdividing the three natures. The truth of cessation is: because ignorance and so on cease, therefore actions and so on cease, therefore the nature of cessation is selflessness; the great mass of suffering approaches

Because of emptiness, it is peaceful; because suffering and its origin are impure, it is detachment; the characteristic of definite departure is such that, like this, abandoning self and what belongs to self is emptiness; the characteristics of being compounded by causes and conditions are absent; because there is no desire to rejoice in the three realms; and because the future aggregates are manifestly uncreated, it is also seven kinds of distinct divisions of one entity. In the truth of the path, the path that leads to the city of Nirvana, because it is the antidote to irrational afflictions, it is reason; because limitless qualities of non-perversion arise, it is practice; and because it leads to a permanent, beneficial, and sacred place, it is the four aspects of definite departure. Thus, those aspects of truth, through the door of not perceiving the essence, in the state of knowing the path, the path of the Hearers should be fully known by the Bodhisattvas. Fully knowing the four truths is necessarily a forerunner in accordance with the aspect of discernment, therefore, its four characteristic aspects are taught. In the path of the Noble Hearers, because form and so on are empty, because the emptinesses are without distinction, because those heats are imperceptible, they are considered to be the peak. In that, by the manner of permanence and so on, because dwelling is prevented, the patiences, having started from the ten grounds, because of the extensive teaching of non-dwelling, it is taught as the supreme Dharma. Why is that? Because the Buddhas, having known, did not see the dharmas. Thus it is. Like this, all the individuals who have attained the knowledge and practice of forms and so on, because of the emptiness of their own nature, the emptinesses are without mutual difference, which is the aspect of heat. Forms and so on, as before, are imperceptible by emptiness, which is the aspect of the peak. Likewise, the dwelling is prevented by the manner of perceiving that forms and so on are not permanent and impermanent, which is the aspect of patience. Why is it that it exists? Because the measure of the all-seeing person, having known all the dharmas and attained enlightenment as a Buddha, did not see anything, with the reason of extreme joy, etc.
