Now, questioning and answering, "How should practice be brought to perfection?" It is said: Things are inexpressible, and it is impossible to have decline and increase. Through the path called "practice," what will decline and what will be gained? This is (the question). Because the nature of the path of Dharma-nature is selflessness, truly speaking, for things that are inexpressible, that is, neither that, nor this, nor both, nor neither, it is impossible to have disharmony, the side of the antidote, separation, and arising. Therefore, for the path called "practice" that has the characteristic of being inexpressible, what nature of the side of disharmony should be abandoned, and what nature of purification should be gained? If practice cannot be brought to perfection by merely doing nothing, then, in response to this, it is said: Like enlightenment, this accomplishes the desired meaning. Enlightenment is the nature of suchness, and that is also its nature. This is (the answer). Just as the unsurpassed enlightenment, which has the nature of suchness, cannot be distinguished by anything, but only through the previously appearing Bodhicitta with special meaning, as the master of Dharmakaya and others, in order to manifest in accordance with the merit and wisdom of those to be tamed, thereby accomplishing the desired meaning, similarly, through this path with the nature of suchness, through practice, in the way of being separated from sudden defilements, in the relative truth, it accomplishes the meaning of the decline and increase of the side of disharmony and the antidote. But in the ultimate truth, it is considered to be the negation of decline and increase. For enlightenment itself, the question is raised about the unreasonableness of becoming the meaning of the cause: The mind is not enlightened by the previous one, nor by the later one. This is (the question). Is enlightenment attained through the arising of a special mind? The arising of the previous Bodhicitta is unreasonable, because it is impossible to fully possess the conditions that can produce such a result. Nor is it attained by the later one, because all its power depends on the ultimate of the previous one, and without the previous one, it cannot exist. Similarly, many things that occur in succession, because they immediately perish as soon as they arise, and there is no continuation, therefore there is no connection between them, so it is unreasonable. In response to this, it is said: Like a lamp

By way of the example of a lamp, there are eight aspects of profound Dharma nature. Just as the flame of a burning lamp, the second moment does not depend on the first moment, and the first moment cannot burn the wick. Not depending on the first moment, the second moment also cannot. Similarly, many unrelated prior and subsequent moments also cannot burn what is to be burned. However, merely by the Dharma nature of this dependent arising, the first moment and so on, through generating the special essence of the cause of burning the second moment and so on, just as the wick is burned, the arising of Bodhicitta with the characteristic of appearing as a special meaning is also not from the separate and numerous manifest connections of prior and subsequent moments. However, because the power of the nature of continuous connection becomes excellent, through clearly and completely manifesting what is to be abandoned and the Dharma of the other, it is appropriate to attain Bodhi. In short, therefore, if analyzed, even if phenomena such as production are not observed, phenomena such as arising are acceptable in the face of an unanalyzed, delightful state, and these are the eight aspects of profound Dharma nature. What are the eight profound aspects? That is, the profound teachings on the eight objects such as arising: Arising and ceasing, Suchness and knowable objects, Knowing and acting and non-duality, Skillful means are profound. As mentioned earlier, even the prior and subsequent moments cannot produce it, nor is it without inherent existence. However, through cultivation, it is able to generate the meaning of supreme realization, therefore dependent arising is profound. All things are inherently empty from the very beginning of their arising and cease, therefore ceasing is profound. No matter what the situation, even if accustomed to it, it will not manifest, therefore Suchness is profound. Merely through the nature of Suchness, all knowable Dharmas are accomplished in various ways such as generosity, therefore knowable objects are profound. By the nature of Suchness, not seeing is seeing, therefore knowing is profound. In ultimate truth, non-action is action.
