It arises and initiates in the flourishing lineage, and it takes the non-abiding Nirvana as its fruit, therefore it is of great significance. For those who possess practice, the cultivation of the pure path will arise, therefore, in order to explain it, it is first explained what should be taken and what should be abandoned, and the causes of the arising and non-arising of this path. "Relying on the Buddha and giving, etc., and whoever is skilled in means, are the causes of faith in this. The causes of lacking Dharma are, being oppressed by the density of demons, and not believing in the profound Dharma, and being attached to the aggregates, etc., and being completely seized by evil friends." That is it. Serving and questioning the Buddha, etc., for a long time, practicing the six perfections and guarding the conduct of the Great Vehicle, and whoever is skilled in the means of equipoise in this, is the cause of believing in and arising in this pure path. Having not accumulated virtuous roots in the past, therefore being blessed by demons, and not having practiced the lineage of the Great Vehicle, therefore not believing in the profound Dharma, and not being well accustomed to the meaning of selflessness, therefore being attached to the aggregates, etc., and not having associated with virtuous friends, therefore being seized by evil friends, are the causes of this path not arising and lacking Dharma. After that, the general explanation of the timely purification is given. "Fruits and forms, etc., what is the purity? The two are not different and inseparable, therefore it is said to be pure." That is it. Thus, what is the fruit of the noble beings, that is being separated from all contradictory things, therefore it is pure. That is the purity of forms, etc., the purity of fruits and forms, etc., is because it is separated from the attachment to self, etc., therefore it is extremely separated, their purity is not different and inseparable in terms of self-characteristics and common characteristics, therefore it is said to be pure in this way. After that, the differences of purity are explained. "The three of afflictions, knowable, and path, due to decline, the purity of the Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas is, the Buddhas are all"

It is called "Extremely Pure." Abandoning afflictions such as attachment related to the view of a person is the purification of the Hearers; abandoning one aspect of the obscurations to knowledge related to the view of grasping is the purification of the Solitary Buddhas; abandoning the three obscurations of the path of the three vehicles related to the view of a person and phenomena is the purification of the Bodhisattvas. It is considered that the complete abandonment in every way of the afflictive and cognitive obscurations together with their imprints, which are related to all views, is that of the perfectly pure and complete Buddhas. How should one examine whether the obscurations to the purification of Bodhisattvas and Buddhas are pure? It is said that the manner of completely eliminating them is by abandoning them with nine antidotes. "On the nine grounds are the great, The great and so forth are the stains, On the small of the small antidotes, The path of so forth is purification." This is its meaning. The desire realm and the four concentrations and the four formless absorptions, these nine grounds, with the nine aspects of the path of the small of the small and so forth, in sequence, eliminate the nine aspects of the stains of the great of the great and so forth, which are the opposing sides. It is like how, in order to remove a small stain on a garment, a great launderer exerts effort in a large trough and so forth. Why is the purification of the perfectly complete Buddhas said to be extremely supreme? Therefore, in order to explain the complete characteristic of the unsurpassed antidote that is without remainder, it is said: "Thereby, by abandoning controversy, The path, the measure, and the measurable are pure, By equality, of the three realms, That itself is desired as the antidote." This is its meaning. The controversies that in the equality of all phenomena, there should be no abandonment and no antidote, and similarly, that there should be no abandoning and accepting, and that there should be no attainment and no realization, are completely eliminated by relying on the path of the two truths. Therefore, the equality of the Buddhas, whatever it may be, is the antidote to all the stains of the knower and the known, which are the aspects of the three realms, by means of the nature of non-apprehension, and it is considered to be the extremely pure purification that is completely perfected and ultimate.
