Then, it is: Not turning back from perfect enlightenment. This means turning away from form, etc. This means realizing that all phenomena are grasped by their own luminosity, etc., and realizing that there are no real objects; this is one characteristic. Doubt and lack of leisure are exhausted. This means that doubt is exhausted and lack of leisure is exhausted. Among them, having doubts about truth, the Three Jewels, karma, and results is doubt. Exhausting this is the second. Wrong views, hell, hungry ghosts, animals, long-lived gods, not hearing the Buddha's words, being born in remote areas, and incomplete faculties are the eight unfree states. Exhausting these is the third. Oneself abiding in virtue. This means that one abides in all virtues and places others in them as well, which is the fourth. Giving, etc., with reliance on others. This means causing all sentient beings to abide in giving, etc., which is the fifth. There is no doubt about the profound meaning either. This means that one does not rely on a virtuous friend to realize the non-perverted emptiness, which is the sixth. Actions of body, speech, and mind preceded by loving-kindness are the seventh. The five obscurations do not associate. This means that desire for sensual pleasures, malice, sleep, drowsiness, excitement, regret, and doubt, these five obscurations do not associate, which is the eighth. All latent tendencies are destroyed. This means abandoning latent tendencies and afflictions, which is the ninth. Mindfulness and awareness. This means awareness accompanied by mindfulness. Mindfulness is making manifest what has been previously experienced. Awareness is repeatedly and individually examining the body and speech; awareness accompanied by mindfulness is the tenth. Cleanliness of clothes, etc., is the eleventh. Not having worms appear in the body is the twelfth. Having a mind without deceit means that the mind, body, and speech are not crooked, which is the thirteenth. Cultivation is taking, which means truly taking the qualities of cultivation, which are also twelve: rag robes, three dharma robes, felt robes, begging for alms, one seat, not taking later, and solitary places.
