Appearances in the middle. All phenomena are also far removed from the ordinary nature, and therefore realizing this is considered to be Buddhahood. The answer to the accusations of "no karma" etc. is as stated above. Just as it is said in the Sutra Pitaka, all dharmas are like dreams. Similarly, acts of giving and harming each other in dreams do not result in merit and demerit. Similarly, the same situation will occur in the state of not being asleep, which is a refutation. The answer should be understood as stated in the Sutra: As the Blessed One said, karma arises from having an object, not from having no object. In the dream state, the mind has no object. Therefore, it has no effect on the continuum of others, so punishing and helping them does not produce sin and merit, which is reasonable. But in the state of being asleep, the mind that appears as a true and non-deceptive realm, because it arises from the continuum of others, therefore has an object. As the teacher Vasubandhu said: By mutually being the master, consciousness is certain. These here, in the ordinary state of not being asleep, have an effect on the continuum of others, and it is reasonable to distinguish their help and punishment with merit and suffering. Speaking on the premise of a pure Buddha-field: sentient beings are also like this, the vessel world is impure, by practicing purity in this, the Buddha-field is pure. That is, the sentient world refers to the name associated with sentient beings, and the impure places are thirst and hunger, etc. Therefore, seeing other beings, gathering the sentient beings in one's own Buddha-field together, and gathering them into the enjoyment of the gods through prayers and other means, thereby purifying the sentient world. Similarly, the vessel world refers to inanimate objects, and the impure places in it should also be understood here, such as thorns, stones, and cliffs, etc., therefore seeing other beings

Oṃ! The purification of the container world of one's own Buddha field, closely gathering the foundation of gold and other substances to produce equality, is the purification of the container world. The purity of sentient beings and the container world is said to be the purity of the Buddha field, because that itself is the nature. To show skillful means, it is said: This is the realm of perfect union, transcending enemies, non-abiding, just as it is, force, uncommon characteristics, non-attachment, non-objectification, characteristics, aspiration exhaustion, its signs, and immeasurable qualities. These are the ten aspects of skillful means. It is said that "means" is the method of accomplishment of the Buddha himself. Skillful in that is the knowledge that is not inverted, that is, skillful means. "This," it is said, refers to skillful means. Its realm and perfect union are to be spoken of. That is, the three samādhis and the aspects of enlightenment. The realm is extensively explained by the sutra itself. "Perfect union" means: "Transcending enemies," and so forth. Each of the ten lines should be understood as being connected correctly, in ten ways. The enemies are the enemies themselves, such as the seven and four. Whatever perfect union transcends those is the perfect union that transcends enemies. Whoever abides in all dharmas, but does not perfectly abide in some, that is the non-abiding perfect union. Whoever cultivates the path to enlightenment in order to accomplish the meaning of going according to aspiration, that is the perfect union by means of force. Whoever cultivates perfect conduct itself, that is the uncommon perfect union with the śrāvakas and others. Whoever universally practices the conduct of enlightenment in order to dispel the fears of all sentient beings, that is the non-attached perfect union. Whoever cultivates the cause of the Buddha in order to show that all imputed dharmas are non-objective, that is the non-objective perfect union. Whoever cultivates the cause of the Buddha himself in order to clarify that all beings grasp at characteristics, that is the perfect union without characteristics. Whoever

In order to establish aspirations and exhaust all sentient beings in the three realms of existence, engaging in the cause of enlightenment is the supreme union without aspiration. "That of" refers to irreversibility. That which is indicated and understood by "whatever" and so on is the supreme union of signs. In order to completely save sentient beings with immeasurable realms and times, familiarizing oneself with the cause of enlightenment is the immeasurable supreme union. By dividing the supreme union into ten aspects, skillful means are explained. This is the commentary on the fourth chapter from the commentary on the Abhisamayalankara called "The Renowned Part".
