Even without obstacles to attaining perfect and complete enlightenment, as long as one can clearly distinguish, the characteristic of the accumulation of merit inherent in one's own cause is the third. Cause refers to the enlightenment achieved through the two accumulations. So, what was said for the sake of attaining this perfect and complete enlightenment? The answer is: 'With defilements exhausted and not arising, Wisdom is called enlightenment, Because of exhaustion and non-arising, those Should be known in order.' Here, the first half of the verse explains the characteristics of the enlightenment sought by the Shravakas who abide and subsequently seek. The latter half briefly explains the characteristics of the enlightenment sought by the Mahayana. Defilements refer to afflictive and cognitive obscurations, etc. Exhaustion and non-arising refer to the exhaustion of what has arisen and the non-arising of what has not arisen. Those are the wisdom of exhaustion and non-arising, which is what is called enlightenment. The characteristic of the wisdom of exhausting and non-arising defilements is the meaning of enlightenment. There is only one characteristic of enlightenment. Abandoning these and understanding in other ways is what is called the characteristic of Mahayana enlightenment. Defilements are like fabricated self and mine, etc., because they have no exhaustion and non-arising. Therefore, without exhaustion, there is no non-arising. It should be known that without example and without non-arising is the enlightenment of the Mahayana. The Mahayana is naturally pure. The nature of the Mahayana is complete purity. The defilement of all dharmas, like something sudden, therefore, recognizing that reality has no characteristics of exhaustion and non-arising is the meaning of enlightenment. Now, in order to refute the other characteristics of enlightenment previously stated as the wisdom of exhaustion and non-arising, it is said: 'In the nature of no cessation, By the path called seeing, What discriminations are exhausted? What aspects of the unborn are attained?' Because the nature of all dharmas is emptiness, devoid of grasper and grasped.

Just like me. That is also without beginning and end, existing everywhere. Then, contrary to this, the self-nature of the fabricated grasper and grasped, then all the defilements of afflictions and so on do not exist here. Therefore, what kind of conceptual thoughts of the path of seeing, what is exhausted and unborn, what is obtained? Because there is nothing, so it is considered. Then, if all dharmas are also the self-nature of the grasper and grasped, it should be said that the obscurations of knowledge itself have been exhausted, then how should it be explained? To this, it is said (in the scripture): Other dharmas also exist, and are also the displayers of knowledge, how can it be said that the obscurations have been exhausted? I am surprised at this. This is to say that the skandhas of form and so on exist as things, and holding them, the obscurations of knowledge of the Buddha Bhagavan have been exhausted, I am surprised at this. The skandhas of form and so on can be analyzed, and there the fabricated obscurations of knowledge are due to my ability. Therefore, how are the obscurations of knowledge exhausted? It is considered in this way. Then, how are the obscurations of knowledge exhausted? To this, it is said (in the scripture): In this there is nothing to be removed, nor is there a little to be added, truly see the reality, truly seeing is liberation. This is to say that in this, it refers to the non-dual stream of clear mind, because all the dharmas of oneself are empty due to inversion, so it is the emptiness of the completely analyzed grasper and grasped. Therefore, for this emptiness, there is nothing to be removed. For the self-nature of the mind that is its basis, from that, emptiness will also be removed. There is nothing to be added in this, referring to the self-nature of the mind and so on. Then what should be done? It is said in the mind: Truly see the reality, truly seeing is liberation. This is to say that seeing is accomplished by self-awareness. Reality is accomplished by valid cognition. Reality is suchness, the self-nature of emptiness. Whoever truly sees and is liberated, that will be liberated from the bonds of samsara. After explaining the things that arise from opportunities such as Bodhi, the main thing to be shown
