It is said from thinking about "what is the ground": Not clinging to form, etc., doubt and lack of leisure cease, oneself abiding in virtue, causing other beings to also abide in it, having altruistic intention, practicing generosity, etc., and having no hesitation about the profound meaning. Loving bodies, etc., and the five obscurations, not associating with the five hindrances, subduing all predispositions, having mindfulness and awareness, clean clothes, etc., and no worms appearing on the body. Without hypocrisy, taming one's mind, without stinginess, etc., possessing the nature of Dharma, acting in accordance with Dharma, seeking hell for the sake of sentient beings, not being led by others, understanding that the demon who guides to other paths is a demon, and it is the behavior praised by the Buddha. With these twenty signs, abiding in the heat stage, the peak stage, the forbearance stage, and the supreme mundane Dharma, one does not turn back from perfect enlightenment. Thus it is said, not clinging to form, etc., means understanding that all dharmas are held by luminosity, and there are no real things such as form, etc., this is one sign. Doubt and lack of leisure cease, means doubt ceases and lack of leisure ceases. Among them, having doubts about the truth, the Three Jewels, karma, and results is doubt. The cessation of this doubt is the second sign. Wrong views, hell, hungry ghosts, animals, long-lived gods, not hearing the Buddha's words, being born in border areas, and incomplete faculties are the eight unfree states. The cessation of these is the third sign. Oneself abiding in virtue means that one abides in all virtues and causes others to abide in them as well, this is the fourth sign. Having altruistic intention, practicing generosity, etc., means causing all sentient beings to abide in generosity and other virtuous actions, this is the fifth sign. Having no hesitation about the profound meaning means that one can realize emptiness without dependence on a spiritual friend, this is the sixth sign. The actions of body, speech, and mind with loving-kindness preceding them are the seventh sign. The five obscurations mean not associating with the five hindrances. Desire, hatred, sleep, restlessness, regret, and doubt are the five hindrances.
