Furthermore, appropriation is also the work of demons, namely, stating the forty-six faults. In order to show the characteristics of thorough combination, it is said: What is symbolized by what is its characteristic, what is to be known is also knowledge, difference and agent are threefold, what is the nature of what is symbolized. It means that the characteristic that one wants to be a symbol, that is, the characteristic of accomplishing a certain function, is threefold: knowledge, difference, and agent. What is the characteristic of what is to be symbolized is accomplished from this. That is, it is nature itself, and there are four characteristics in total. Among them, taking knowing everything as the main thing, in order to show the sixteen kinds of consciousness as characteristics, it is said: The arising of the Tathagata, the nature of the world's imperishability, the conduct of sentient beings' minds, their summary and review, the aspect of inexhaustibility, attachment and so on, and vastness, becoming great and immeasurable, consciousness cannot be shown, the mind cannot be seen and known, agitation and so on are knowable, and other than that, they are also known by suchness. The Able One realizes suchness, and in what is called proclaiming others, all-knowingness is the occasion, and it is the summary of the characteristics of knowledge. It means that the word "knowledge" should be used in the seventh case with these words. The arising of the Tathagata means knowing that the Tathagatas arise from the Blessed Mother. The nature of the world's imperishability means knowing that the continuity of the world does not decline. The conduct of sentient beings' minds means knowing the realm of conduct of the minds of all sentient beings. Their summary and review means knowing the distraction and non-distraction of the mind. The aspect of inexhaustibility means knowing the aspect of the mind's inexhaustibility. Attachment and so on means knowing the mind with desire and the mind without desire and so on. Vastness means that the mind is vast. Becoming great means that the mind becomes great emptiness, that is, knowing the mind that has become great. Immeasurable means knowing the immeasurable mind.

"Not shown to the ground," etc., refers to the eye consciousness that cannot be shown. Whatever cannot be shown to form is the mind consciousness that cannot be shown. "The invisible mind and consciousness," etc., means that whatever mind is invisible, that is, consciousness is the invisible mind consciousness. "Movement and other knowable things," etc., means knowing the movement, non-movement, both, and complete cessation of that mind. Among them, movement means change. Non-movement means cessation, that is, no change. Both means that the changed things are completely stopped, that is, stopping both, neither changed nor unchanged. Those are: "Knowing distinctly by suchness," meaning that movement and other things are known distinctly by suchness itself. "The capable one realizes suchness, and this is called teaching to others," meaning that the capable one truly realizes it, and whatever is truly realized is shown to others, that is, knowing the teaching of Dharma. "The scope of all-knowingness itself, the characteristics of consciousness are summarized," meaning that it is a close summary. In order to realize the sixteen characteristics of consciousness by relying on the wisdom of the path, it is said: "Emptiness, signlessness with attachment, and wishing completely abandoned, unarisen, cessationless, etc., and the nature of Dharma without pervasive confusion, non-accumulation and non-discrimination, various differences, no nature, in the context of the wisdom of the path, these are considered to be the characteristics of consciousness." That is, the word consciousness is in the seventh case, that is, everywhere without pervasive confusion, non-accumulation. "Signlessness with attachment" means knowing without signs. "Wishing completely abandoned, and," means knowing without wishing. "Unarisen, cessationless, etc., and," among them, the word "etc." indicates without pervasive defilement, without complete purification, etc., that is, form is unborn, unceasing, etc. "The nature of Dharma without pervasive confusion," means that by abandoning all nihilistic views, by acknowledging emptiness through reasoned consideration, thereby knowing that the nature of Dharma is without confusion. "Non-accumulation" means that all the objects of thought are without accumulation, hence it is called non-accumulation. "Non-discrimination" means Dharma
