"Three vehicles" means that for the sake of benefiting sentient beings, one definitely emerges by the three vehicles. "I do not manifest the fruit," which means that the fruits of the Bodhi of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas are not manifested in any way, and for the sake of benefiting all sentient beings, one does not completely perfect the accumulations, nor does one manifest the fruit of perfect and complete enlightenment. The definite emergence of the three vehicles, not manifesting its fruit, that is the function of definite emergence. Becoming the final activity, wherein, becoming means obtaining the fruit, the activity of becoming is the final. This is the nature of the function. It means to summarize. Having stated the three characteristics of proving the function by the three aspects of omniscience, now the characteristic of the nature of accomplishment in action is stated. Afflictions, signs, and characteristics, unfavorable factors and antidotes, solitude, difficulty, and certainty, purpose and non-apprehension, and the prevention of manifest clinging, and whatever is called object, unfavorable unobstructed, without basis, without going, without arising, and suchness, non-apprehension, the sixteenfold nature of reality, by illustrating with examples, it is considered to be four characteristics. "Afflictions" means the nature of being isolated from afflictions such as desire. "Signs" means the nature of being free from the signs of whatever afflictions.

English

"Sign" refers to the nature of being separate from those who cling to the signs of afflictions. "Incompatible qualities and, antidotes, etc." Here, incompatible qualities and antidotes refer to things like attachment and non-attachment, and it is the nature of being separate from these two. "Difficult" refers to the difficult nature of liberating all sentient beings. "Definite" refers to the nature of delighting in the Great Vehicle itself because it is separate from other vehicles. "For the sake of doing" refers to acting for the sake of the excellence of all sentient beings, and it is the nature of doing. "Without object" refers to the nature of not perceiving the object of meditation and the dharma of meditation. "Non-attachment" refers to the nature of non-attachment. "What is the object?" refers to focusing on the object, which is the emptiness of all dharmas, and since its nature is this, it is the nature of the object. "Incompatible" means incompatible with all worldly people. When the dharma of the nature of the Perfection of Wisdom is taught, worldly people engage in expression, therefore, because the nature of the Perfection of Wisdom, which is without that expression, is taught, it becomes the nature of being incompatible with all worldly people. "Unobstructed" means that there is no obstruction from form up to omniscience, and it is the nature of being unobstructed. "Without basis, without going, without birth, etc." means that when that dharma is taught, there is no place, no going, and no birth. The saying, "There is no form, etc. in this place," is the nature of being without a place. Here, "without going" refers to the nature of not going. "Without birth" refers to the nature of not being born. "Suchness is unobtainable." Here it says that suchness is emptiness, and there is no experience more excellent than emptiness. That is just a nominal designation like conceptual thought, etc., therefore, it is the nature of being unobtainable. "Sixteen natures" refers to the sixteen aspects mentioned immediately before this.
