Not understanding, blessed by emptiness, it is the nature of merely appearing in one's own mind, therefore it is the meaning of general understanding. Why is it so? Because all phenomena are like dreams. The nature of the awakened state, the appearances of the mind are like dreams. Dreams are when one is close to the state of sleep, the forms of hands and elephants appear in the mind. All phenomena are also like that, far removed from ordinary nature, therefore realizing it is the thought of the Buddha. The answer to arguments such as lack of action is just as stated. As it is said, all phenomena are like dreams, how is it said in the sutras? Similarly, in dreams, giving and various acts of harm do not become merit and demerit. Similarly, it would also become a fault in the state of not being asleep, which is a refutation. The answer should be understood as stated in the sutras, as the Blessed One said, actions arise from having an object, not from not having an object. In the dream state, the mind is without an object, therefore, it is not established in other continuums, so it is reasonable that there is no sin and merit from those who carry out sanctions and help. But in the usual state of falling asleep, as something real, with an undeceptive object, it appears in the mind, arising from other continuums, therefore it has an object. As the teacher Vasubandhu said: Because of mutual autonomy, consciousness is certain. Those here, usually in the state of not being asleep, those established in other continuums, carrying out help and sanctions, distinguishing with merit and suffering is abiding. Considering the pure Buddha-field, it is said: Sentient world is also like that, the vessel world is impure, achieving purity there, the Buddha-field is pure. Sentient world refers to the name of sentient beings, what is impure? It is thirst.

and hunger, etc. Seeing others, he makes the beings in his Buddha-field approach purity, through aspirations, etc., approaching the enjoyment of the gods, thereby purifying the world of beings. Similarly, the vessel-world is the collection of inanimate objects, and whatever is impure should also be inferred here. Thorns, stones, and cliffs, etc., seeing other things, he makes the vessel-world in his Buddha-field approach purity, equally producing the basis of the nature of gold, etc., this is what purifies the vessel-world. The purity of beings and the vessel-world is called the purity of the Buddha-field, because their nature is such. To show skillful means, it is said: This is the extremely good combination of objects, surpassing all enemies, non-abiding, as it is, force, uncommon characteristics, non-attachment and non-objectification, signs, aspirations, exhaustion, its signs and immeasurable, skillful means are ten kinds. This means that means are the means to become a Buddha. Skillful means refers to non-inverted wisdom, which is skillful means. This refers to skillful means, and its realm and extremely good combination are to be spoken of, namely the three samadhis and the aspects of bodhi, etc. The realm is extensively explained in the sutra itself. Extremely good combination means: surpassing all enemies, etc., the ten lines should be combined correctly, so that it can be recognized as ten kinds. Enemies are enemies, such as seven, four, etc. Which extremely good combination surpasses these, that is the extremely good combination that surpasses all enemies. By what abides in all dharmas, but does not extremely well abide in some dharmas, that is the non-abiding extremely good combination. By what, in order to accomplish what is done as desired, becomes accustomed to the path of bodhi, that is the extremely good combination of force as it is. By what becomes accustomed to the very conduct of truth and completeness, that is the extremely good combination that is uncommon with shravakas, etc. By what eliminates the fear of all beings

For this reason, constantly practicing the Bodhi conduct is the non-attachment's excellent union. In a non-attached manner, to clarify that all imputed dharmas are unattainable, and to become accustomed to the cause of Buddhahood, is the non-perception's excellent union. To clarify that all sentient beings are attached to characteristics, and to become accustomed to the cause of Buddhahood itself, is the signless excellent union. To make all sentient beings vow and aspire in the three realms, and to make them cease, practicing the cause of Bodhi is the desireless excellent union. The term "of it" refers to non-retrogression. To represent and understand it with "whoever" etc., is the indicative excellent union. To save all sentient beings with immeasurable realms and time, and to become accustomed to the cause of Bodhi, is the immeasurable excellent union. By dividing the excellent union into ten types, skillful means are taught. The commentary on the Abhisamayalankara, called "Part of Fame," is the commentary on the fourth chapter. Commentary on the Fifth Chapter In the peak Abhisamayalankara, the nine objects, beginning with "its sign," etc., are briefly explained. Among them, to explain the sign, it is said: Even in dreams, all dharmas, like dreams, are viewed, etc. The signs of the union that has reached the peak are considered to be twelve types. That is, among those twelve signs of the peak Abhisamayalankara, whoever sees all dharmas as dreams in dreams, etc., is one sign. The word "etc." includes not generating the mind in the Bodhi of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and in the three realms, is the second sign. Seeing Tathagatas, etc., in dreams is the third sign. Seeing the Buddha's miracles manifested from the sky in dreams is the fourth sign. Generating the mind to teach the Dharma in dreams is the fifth sign. Seeing the three lower realms, such as hell, and generating the thought of abandoning them in one's own Buddha-field is the sixth sign. At the time of waking from a dream, if I am the one prophesied by the Buddhas of the past, then the fire of cities, etc., should be completely pacified, with this truth.
