These twenty signs, possessing the warmth and peak forbearance, abiding in the supreme Dharma, do not regress from perfect Bodhi. Thus, retreating from form, etc. It means understanding that all dharmas are held by luminosity, etc., and knowing that there is no real object, this is one sign. Doubt and lack of leisure cease. It means the cessation of doubt and the cessation of lack of leisure. Among them, having doubts about the truth and the Three Jewels, as well as karma and its fruits, is doubt. Ceasing this doubt is the second. Wrong views, hell, hungry ghosts, animals, long-lived gods, not hearing the Buddha's words, being born in borderlands, and lacking faculties are the eight unfree states. Ceasing these is the third. Oneself abiding in virtue. It means that oneself abides in virtue and also guides others to abide in it, which is the fourth. Giving, etc., relying on others. It means causing all sentient beings to abide in giving, etc., which is the fifth. There is no hesitation about the profound meaning. It means that in order to realize the non-inverted emptiness, one does not rely on a virtuous friend, which is the sixth. The actions of body, speech, and mind that are preceded by love are the seventh. Not associating with the five obscurations. It means desire, hatred, sleep, agitation, regret, and doubt. Not associating with the five obscurations is the eighth. Destroying all predispositions. It means abandoning predispositions and afflictions, which is the ninth. Mindfulness and awareness. It means awareness with mindfulness. Mindfulness is making manifest what has been previously experienced. Awareness is repeatedly observing the body and speech separately. Awareness with mindfulness is the tenth. Clothes, etc.

Not being stingy, etc., means that stinginess, etc., which are contrary to the six perfections, do not exist, which is the fifteenth. Going with the nature of Dharma means not obstructing emptiness and going from higher to higher, which is the sixteenth. Seeking hell for the sake of sentient beings means going to hell with great compassion for the benefit of sentient beings, which is the seventeenth. Not being seduced by others is the eighteenth. Showing others other paths is a demon, considering other paths as demons, means that other paths besides the path spoken by the Tathagata should be called the path of demons, and recognizing that those are demons, which is the nineteenth. Actions that please the Buddhas mean practicing the ten perfections such as generosity, and from those actions, all Buddhas will be pleased, which is the twentieth. The heat and summit, etc., are summarizing verses. Bodhisattvas who abide in the stage of discernment symbolize with these twenty signs that they will never regress from perfect enlightenment. This is its meaning. The characteristics of the Sangha of Bodhisattvas who abide in the path of seeing and never regress are explained. The sixteen moments of patience, etc., on the path of seeing are the characteristics of a Bodhisattva who does not regress, and should be known. It means that the Bodhisattva who abides on the path of seeing should know the sixteen moments of patience and wisdom as signs of non-retrogression. This is its meaning. What are those sixteen moments?
