And it will not become like that. The destruction of the skandhas is the non-apprehension of all aspects of the skandhas. It should be connected as "how does it become like that?" Therefore, this shows that if someone, like the Lokayatas, enters the transcendental path with worldly paths and temporary wisdom, preceded by thought, if they cling to something, then they will not gain faith in it. Because there is no difference in nature between the transcendental path and the other path in clinging to things. Therefore, only the nature of non-apprehension of all things is the transcendental state, and other than that, because it is the object of fabricated states, it is not the antidote to all defilement habits, but is worldly. If someone observes only the skandhas, the characteristics of being devoid of a person, and if there is no thought of sentient beings, wouldn't they abandon all defilements? If so, isn't merely seeing the absence of a person transcendental? No, because if you do not abandon attachment to the skandhas, you will not abandon the thought of sentient beings. Because it arises from attachment to the skandhas, and apart from relying on the skandhas, it is not seen to arise from anywhere else. Attachment to permanence, etc., also depends on the complete grasping of the skandhas, because that is also believing that the skandhas truly exist, so it is impossible to abandon it by believing in impermanence. If it is not like that, then believing in the impure, etc., and contemplating it will also become an antidote to defilements. Therefore, not focusing on the skandhas is because it is the object of suchness established by valid cognition, so by contemplating suchness, it becomes the antidote to all evil habits, but not by focusing on it, as it is said: As long as there is clinging to the skandhas, so long as there is the thought of self from it. Thus it is said. Second chapter. Some say that some say that merely understanding the selflessness of a person can abandon defilements, that is what they say.

What is said is for the sake of taming those who can be tamed, but it is not truly existent, as it is said in the scriptures: 'Monks, there is a burden, and there is also a bearer of the burden.' etc. Thus, through the means of analogy, it is shown that all dharmas are without self, and in order to connect this with the Bodhisattva, it is said 'What is a Bodhisattva?' etc. 'Thus' means 'like that'. 'Whoever knows all dharmas like the one with a garland, knows in that way,' should be connected in that way. Whoever thus views all dharmas as without self, is Nirvana, but also does not touch the Nirvana of the Hearers, nor does he make it an object, it should be established in that way. To look at all beings with great compassion is because he makes the mind without any object on all dharmas. 'That' refers to the Bodhisattva. 'Dwelling' refers to the practice of Prajna, the words 'Tathagata' etc. are superfluous. In order to show the most supreme peak, it is said 'also' etc. 'This' refers to the Bodhisattva who is in the state of the peak. Regarding the complete realization of the Prajnaparamita, from the aspect of self-nature, it is what is said 'What is this?' The word 'what' should be regarded as having the meaning of abandonment, because clinging to its self-nature etc. is unreasonable. From the aspect of relation, it is what is said 'Whose is it?' The word 'whose' is the same as before, because the self etc. related to it does not exist. From the aspect of object, it is what is said 'From where does it come?', that is, understanding all dharmas as emptiness. Because all dharmas of the nature of defilement and purification, the things of dharma and dharmic things, and that emptiness itself, are all unreasonable. 'Understanding' means to investigate. 'Without fear' means that because one understands that everything is only mind, one will not fall into universal ignorance, this is its synonym. The remaining parts are easy to understand. Thus, from the gradually increasing peak, the forbearance of the characteristic of understanding without the object of grasping and the grasper.
