Transgression of the precepts is because it contradicts the precept of patience. Its antidote is the non-degradation of the precept itself, because in all circumstances, for the cause of lax precepts, the precept of patience itself does not disturb its own precepts. Desiring the Lesser Vehicle is an incompatible aspect of the precept of great joy. Its antidote is to dedicate the perfect precept entirely to perfect enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. If that is the case, with limitless diligence that is the basis of self and other's benefit, one will reach the other shore of all vows, therefore, the activity of vows, etc., is mentioned. "How many" refers to how many activities of vows there are, such as the nature of the precept of vows, the benefit of sentient beings, and the accumulation of virtuous dharmas. "Following" means protecting. That also, that activity also, should be connected to the context. If it is not so, since it becomes an obstacle to attaining the fruit of the perfection of discipline, Buddhahood itself, the lax discipline is improper. If so, it is said, "If," etc., because delighting in other vehicles becomes an obstacle to generating the mind of enlightenment. Those are lax disciplines among the wise Bodhisattvas. "Behavior is diminished" means behavior is diminished, and that is because it is the very reason for deviating from the precepts of Bodhisattvas other than that. If one dedicates entirely to perfect enlightenment, even if one dwells in the qualities of desire, it is not lax discipline itself. Therefore, "If," etc., is said, and the meaning ends there. Why is that? Like this, "What dharma," etc., is said. "The qualities of enlightenment will arise," means that the dharma from which the qualities of enlightenment, such as strength, will truly arise, should be connected to "that is." "The meaning of discipline" means the very essence of discipline. If it becomes the antidote to all the suffering that obscures the appropriateness of the qualities of perfect enlightenment, it will later become cool. Suda

What is it? It refers to Bodhisattvas, as mentioned in "those with virtuous qualities." For those who seek the essence of perfect Buddhahood, only the Dharma that is suitable for it is their discipline, not others. This is the concluding statement. To show this, it is said, "Which Dharma is beneficial," etc. "Completely degenerating from Bodhi" means that in which Dharma there is a situation of completely degenerating from Bodhi. This is how the sentences are structured. "This is" refers to this Dharma. Because of why it is so, therefore, it is said, "If," etc. "The five objects of desire" refers to the five objects, such as form, that cause attachment. "Even if practicing" means even if one has already practiced. "Thinking to attain Buddhahood" means if one thinks, "How can I definitely become a Buddha?" and strives diligently in that way, keeping omniscience in mind. "Abiding in the perfection of discipline" means abiding in the perfection of discipline. "At that time" is the remainder. The Dharma of generating the mind of perfect Bodhi, beginning with taking refuge in the Three Jewels, is because it is capable of generating all the qualities of Bodhi. This is what is intended. Other than that, it is the occurrence of "if a kalpa," etc. "That mind generation" refers to the mind generated for the Bodhi of a Pratyekabuddha and an Arhat. Because that is the cause of completely degenerating from the Bodhi that is the nature of the perfection of self and other's benefit, one should know that it is heavier than a defeat. A defeat is not a cause of such degeneration, because his thought is not eternally fallen. When a downfall occurs, no one, or very few, thinks, "I must make this mistake a habit forever," because universally practicing desire, etc., is the only cause of ruin, so it is not something to be rejoiced in. Therefore, because it is not something to be done forever, it is not contradictory to the mind of perfect Bodhi.

Therefore, falling into defeat is not, as the Lesser Vehicle believes, a dharma that completely severs bodhisattvas forever. They think that because the fruit of fearlessness, and the very nature of striving to accomplish the benefit of others, contradict the intention to pursue the fruit of unsurpassed wisdom. Therefore, it is said to uphold morality and so on. The so-called "complete dedication" means if one completely dedicates. In this way, it becomes the ultimate perfection of morality, this is the concluding remark. Being arrogant with the merits of morality is incompatible with the morality of equanimity. Because, if the continuum is destroyed by arrogance, one cannot perfectly practice the morality of equanimity. Its antidote is to eliminate arrogance, and to show this, it is said "by this" and so on. "By this" refers to the morality just mentioned. The so-called "without pride" means without contempt, that is, for others, this is a supplementary explanation. To see persons and so on, this is the opposite aspect of the morality of wisdom. To prevent it, it is said "my consciousness" and so on. "My consciousness" is the view of thinking "I." The consciousness of sentient beings refers to attachment to persons and aggregates and so on in other continuums. Having differentiated consciousness, because it is the nature of inversion, it is not ultimate morality. Therefore, it is said "if" and so on. "Extremely immoral" refers to establishing the consciousness of non-worthy offerings for sentient beings, and having the inversion of self and others. Because it is so, it is said "for whom is my" and so on. "Consciousness free from attachment" means for whom the consciousness is free from attachment and without clinging, how can there be non-thirst? They think that because its root is in this consciousness. The so-called "this is the vow of morality" refers to realizing that morality and other things are not different, so it is ultimate morality.
