The journey from Brahmaparisadya to Akanistha refers to, below that, oneself ultimately reaching Akanistha, so it is said. There are three types of these, and what exceeds these three? First, having perfected the four dhyanas, and then declining due to some causes, one attains the first dhyana again. Then, one is born in Brahmaparisadya, and there attains the higher dhyanas. Then, upon death, one takes birth in Akanistha, and demonstrates enlightenment in various Buddha-fields. Ascending halfway refers to, like the previous treatises, dying and transmigrating from Brahmaparisadya, and being born in one of the lower Pure Abodes. Then, dying and transmigrating, one is born in Akanistha. Dying and transmigrating in all places refers to, abiding only in the first dhyana in Tushita, dying and transmigrating and being born there. In this order, one holds life in all seventeen places of the Form Realm, and abandoning them, goes to Akanistha, and below it, ripens many beings. Furthermore, some Non-returners, not in the Pure Abodes, but experiencing the bliss of all dhyanas of the Form and Formless Realms as illusory, are born in the Peak of Existence, and then perform the benefit of many leaders. This refers to, here, oneself ultimately reaching the end of the Peak of Existence, so it is said. There are two types of these. One who is free from desire for form is one who, in this Desire Realm, abandons what is to be abandoned by the Path of Seeing and the Path of Meditation of the Form Realm, and attains the Formless Realm's sphere of birth. From here, dying and transmigrating, without abandoning the intermediate realm, one is born there all at once, and then ripens those to be tamed. Pacifying in the present dharma, making manifest the body refers to, in one lifetime alone, abiding in the position of a Chakravartin king possessing the seven precious things, and in that lifetime, fully accumulating merit, without taking another life or another body, one perfectly attains enlightenment. This is the supreme state of a Bodhisattva. The Non-returners are thus ten types. Entering the fruit of Arhatship refers to Bodhisattvas abiding in the six perfections, taming sentient beings who are extremely difficult to tame and who hold wrong views, and without harming their own minds, fully accumulating merit. These are Bodhisattvas who practice unbearable austerities.

They are called great Bodhisattvas. Pratyekabuddhas refer to certain very skillful Bodhisattvas who go to any world where the sound of the Three Jewels is not heard, demonstrate the attainment of enlightenment, and thereby subdue many beings to be subdued. Therefore, these three that are ultimately spoken of are regarded as the most supreme Bodhisattvas from the perspective of self-benefit, benefiting others, and benefiting both. Here, Bodhisattvas are also spoken of as Stream-enterers, etc., and there are two types: those who manifest and those who have a basis of designation. Among them, those who manifest are: "The Great Vehicle causes them to be afraid, because they have faith in the inferior beings. These Bodhisattvas become Hearers, and they also speak well of being Solitary Realizers." Thus it is said. Regarding the basis of designation: Without elaboration and without impurity, it reveals the unobstructed realm of reality. All the Buddha's teachings, without exception, having seen them as they are, it reveals them. Whatever the Buddhas have said, it does not think of being far from the Dharma, nor does it think of being near the Dharma. Therefore, they are without mixture. Although it speaks, there is no mixture, speaking to immeasurable beings, But those beings are not seen, therefore it is called a Hearer. Kaundinya, you should know this: I have fully spoken of the Hearers. The nature of the non-abiding Bodhisattva, know that it is the Hearer." Thus it is said, and: "Having known these conditions, it does not abide in anything. In the name of Solitary Realizer, it speaks well of the nature of the Bodhisattva." Thus it is said. It is also said that these Bodhisattvas have a basis of designation for the three distinctions of Stream-enterers, etc. In detail, it should be quoted from the Sutra of the Wheel of the Holy Non-Returning. Furthermore, here, if someone abandons six, seven, or eight aspects from the aspects of afflictions, then, from "this is the fruit of Stream-enterer" to "if someone abandons the eighth affliction of the peak of existence, then this is the fruit of Arhat," the refutation by abandonment is very clear in the Abhidharma. Here, since such abandonment is not the main point, what is the use of speaking? It is called being in accordance with the definitive aspect.
