The Bodhisattva who is liberated by faith, as it is said in the scriptures, by the power of skillful means, is not born in the long-lived gods, but is born in any other place. This is because they are not born in the long-lived gods by the power of skillful means, while the former two abandon it with fear and so on by making aspirations and so on. The once-returner is one who, having heard of meditation and immeasurables, does not realize their fruits, but is born in Tushita, and after dwelling there to the end, descends to this Jambudvipa and shows enlightenment. Another type, the one-interval nirvana, is one who, from the meditations and so on, obtains the qualities up to the unmixed Dharma, but still remains for one lifetime for the sake of offering to the Buddhas and so on. For example, "Manjushri, are you still not satisfied with the work of offering to the Tathagata?" and so on. Those liberated by faith and view, these are the same as before. The non-returner is one who does not return from desiring boundless fields, and also does not return from desiring to have the unsurpassed Great Vehicle and immeasurable life. They do not abandon the opportunity to tame sentient beings, because it is shown that there is also the work of benefiting sentient beings in the three realms that have been abandoned, so they are distinguished from the non-returners of the Lesser Vehicle. The intermediate nirvana is one who, having been born in the Brahma realm, accumulates the accumulations with that body and becomes fully enlightened. The one who attains nirvana after birth is one who is born in existence, and who becomes enlightened in that one life that has been blessed with immeasurable life. The one who attains nirvana with effort and action is one who, in countless worlds, tames a great multitude of beings with obvious effort, and there also does not speak too much of himself, but tames by the power of accomplishing the work. The one who attains nirvana without effort and action is one who, with the first moment of mind born of nature and conditions, obtains the irreversible ground, and therefore will become enlightened. For example, the monk Unperturbed, the Brahmin Ocean Dust, the Wheel-Turning King Space, and so on. Again, like the Wheel-Turning King, he establishes sentient beings in the path of the ten virtuous actions, beginning with generosity, and then himself.
