All retinues, like great rivers flowing into the ocean, should always rely on that great Bodhisattva who conceals with supreme fruits. Thus it is taught. Furthermore, abandoning the one hundred and eight types of conceptualizations is what was previously stated as the two paths of summation during the time of all-knowingness. The uncontaminated path of meditation is the nature of the initial manifestation, and it is also the wisdom without appearance. Its basis is the path of meditation with conceptualizations, which is the sudden transcendence of meditative absorption. Therefore, it is easy to understand that the accomplishment of the basis precedes the preliminary practices. The term "Bodhisattvas" refers to those who abide in the path of meditation. The word "is" indicates the object of focus. Therefore, although the Shravakas have the meditative absorption of sudden transcendence, they have not been blessed by great skillful means and wisdom, and thus they do not possess great qualities such as abandoning the one hundred and eight types of conceptualizations. Thus it is taught. In the desire realm, the consciousness that is currently active, such as grossness, inferiority, evil, dense walls, and so on, are viewed as mere illusions, or one remembers how sentient beings in hell and other realms abide, also as mere illusions. What has arisen is the past, which is the way of showing the object and aspect at the time of all-knowingness. The cause of truly arising is to show others the Bodhi, its cause is complete dedication, the uninterrupted cause of obtaining it is the nature of many merits. These are what are taught. The future is the samadhi that is close to being uninterrupted. The absence of that is the absence of the path of meditation that is able to generate it. Because of being of the Shravaka lineage, generating intention towards that vehicle, the term "Shravaka lineage" means that due to some conditions, one is pleased with it and therefore enters that path. However, as the Yogacharas say, it is not said that from the beginning they are of that lineage, but rather that all sentient beings possess the Tathagatagarbha. As it is said in the first chapter of the Noble Excellent Manjushri Prajnaparamita: Bodhisattva Samantabhadra, all sentient beings are Tathagatas.

It is said that they possess the essence of the Tathagata. Also, in the Sutra of the Noble Moon Lamp, it is said: "Here, there are no unsuitable sentient beings. All these beings will become Buddhas." However, if someone enters that path, because of being accustomed to inferiority, even in later long periods, a desire for it will arise. Considering this meaning, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, before the Venerable Maitreya, said: "The Shravakas are uncertain, of two kinds: those who see and those who do not see the meaning of the vehicle. Seeing the meaning is being free from attachment, and not being free from attachment is inferior. These two who have attained the noble path, because of arising in desire, are endowed with births that are transformed inconceivably. One, by the power of aspiration, transforms births exceedingly. The other, being associated with non-returning, accomplishes emanations exceedingly. Those two, again and again, because their own minds are universally arising, for the sake of manifest joy in Nirvana, are considered to have slow realization. Those who have done the meaning are Buddhas. Having been born without meaning, they seek the meaning of emanation. Relying on diligence in the meaning of meditation, they will attain supreme Bodhi." Thus it is said. Here, the so-called slow realization should not be regarded as entirely a fault, because it is spoken from the perspective of the practitioners of Yoga. Similarly, in the Abhidharma, it says: "Two student lineages, having turned away, will become Buddhas; the other three, in showing and rhinoceros-like Bodhi, all rely on one at the edge of meditation." This is also not accepted. Here, the Venerable Nagarjuna said: "The two vehicles also arise in the Great Vehicle, therefore, for those wearied by the path of existence, it is for the sake of rest, not that itself. Those Shravakas, as long as they are not urged by the Buddhas, at that time, with one body of wisdom, they remain intoxicated by the pride of Samadhi. Having been urged, with various forms, they delight in doing the meaning of sentient beings, and having increased merit and wisdom, they will attain Buddhahood and Bodhi." Following this, in the chapter on the excellent differentiation of the Bodhisattva's training, it is also shown that, without distinction, the Shravakas transform inconceivable births.
