As for the venerable teacher Chandrakirti, he says, "These are merely differentiated by the power of immediate need and the power of conceptualization, and since they do not possess substance, they do not meet the criteria for a definition." The teacher also said, "Combining the meaning into one, relying on negation, it is not permissible to distinguish different entities that are proximately produced." Others say that if one enters the path of reasoning, then at that time all things are merely the general appearance of sound, just names, and only examination becomes the essence. If attachment is strong, assuming that external objects exist as they are, then all correct conventional truths, however they are imputed, each object possesses the characteristic of that much power. One's own definition is one's own unique branch, such as the heat of fire, etc., when not destroyed by reason in the world, the gross objects that appear to function independently of others. Here, the definition of self-nature is taken. Furthermore, the definition of what is expressed is knowledge, distinction, and action. Among these, the definition of knowledge is that all three differences of omniscience are to be known by "This victorious mother is the one who gives birth to the Tathagata," and so forth. If, in this way, the greatness of the nature of the victorious mother of all three omnisciences is to be known, then at that time, it is sufficient to know all bases, so what is the purpose of knowing all paths? Although they are the same in being known, the definition of distinction is what shows that the differences between them are like this and that. If one wonders what the definition of distinction does, then the definition of action is shown. The definition of the nature to be expressed is that the nature of the three omnisciences is merely a nature that is not primarily for comprehending other natures. The condensed meaning is only this much, and the meanings that I have not distinguished one by one have been extensively explained in the commentary on the Middle Way Treatise by the venerable Aryavimokshasena.

It should be known from that place. The so-called "corresponding to the part of liberation" means that liberation is to be separated from the most coarse karma and afflictions, such as being thrown into the eight states of no leisure. From that liberation, warmth and so on are the path of application. This meaning is what the noble Vimuktisena said. Among them, liberation refers to the difference of separation, and that which benefits its part is called corresponding to the part of liberation. Therefore, it is said in the Abhidharma: "Liberation is not in the hair." This sentence should not be quoted here. Saying "its part" means that it only benefits from one aspect. In reality, after obtaining what corresponds to the part of liberation, one learns the objects and aspects with differences as shown, so as to obtain warmth and so on. Therefore, at the boundary between the general path and the special path, even if one obtains one's own path, it is shown that the essence of the connection is different from the lower path because it is included in it. The so-called "Iya" is as shown before. The classification here is the great, medium, and small as said by the noble Vimuktisena, and the signs that can represent this path are that one will not be discouraged, will not be afraid, and will not regret in one's heart. In addition, some people explain that this path is the nature of hearing and thinking. Others explain that these are mostly the wisdom of hearing and thinking, but it cannot be determined that there is no wisdom born of meditation. Because the noble Vimuktisena believes that the root of virtue corresponding to the part of liberation is the nature of hearing and thinking. Therefore, it should be known that all of these are the nature of hearing and thinking, because this is the cause of initially entering the explained path. And in the path of application, it is also established so definitely. Then, is this corresponding to the part of liberation also established as irreversible? For the time being, irreversibility includes irreversibility from Bodhi, irreversibility from excellent Bodhi, irreversibility from the supramundane ground, and irreversibility from no effort. Among them, the first is shared with the noble Shravakas.
