Also, even when teaching the Dharma, if one does not generate great compassion for those who listen to the Dharma, this is also the work of a demon. Seeking those who possess qualities and places of giving, but becoming angry with those who break their vows, this is also the work of a demon. Proclaiming the teachings of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, while concealing the teachings of the Mahayana, this is also the work of a demon. Concealing profound teachings, but proclaiming various kinds of talk, this is also the work of a demon. Although Bodhisattvas know the path, they do not fully seek the path of Prajnaparamita, this is also the work of a demon. Praising diligence, but not exhorting non-diligent beings, this is also the work of a demon. Roots of virtue, etc., but not manifesting the mind of Bodhi, this is also the work of a demon. Abiding in the yoga of Vipassana, but not allowing beings to correctly practice Vipassana, this is also the work of a demon. Seeking the complete cessation of afflictions, but slandering the afflictions of the cycle of Samsara, this is also the work of a demon. Discriminating with wisdom, but not holding onto great compassion, this is also the work of a demon. Performing all virtuous deeds without possessing skillful means, this is also the work of a demon. Not seeking the Bodhisattva's scriptures, but clinging to the secret languages of the world, this is also the work of a demon. Although hearing much, fearing that others will know, the teacher conceals the Dharma, this is also the work of a demon. Catering to the needs of worldly people, but not seeking much learning, this is also the work of a demon. For those who have truly entered the great path of the Bodhisattva Dharma speakers, those who have the same capacity do not approach or respect them, but they like those who have truly entered the Shravaka and Pratyekabuddha vehicle, those who have different capacities, this is also the work of a demon. When Indra, or Brahma, or the guardians of the world, or a king, or a merchant, or a householder, possesses the glory of enjoyment, wealth, jewels, and power, but does not approach or respect those who possess the glory of the Dharma, these are the twenty kinds of demonic deeds of the sons of the gods, the Bodhisattvas. Thus it was said. Also, the Sutra Requested by the Holy Naga King Anavatapta is a Mahayana Sutra.

Moreover, disrespecting the gurus is the work of demons. Arrogance that arises from speaking of oneself is also the work of demons. Abandoning the path of the Bodhisattva's Pitaka of Perfections is also the work of demons. Holding onto worldly language and worldly secret words, as well as sutras that possess the vehicle of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, is the work of human demons. Wisdom without skillful means, and skillful means without wisdom, attaining meditation with little hearing, and praising oneself even with much hearing, are the works of demons. Completely clinging to rebirth due to being separated from the roots of virtue, and desiring the Lesser Vehicle even after accumulating roots of virtue, are the works of demons. Not protecting the sacred Dharma, and not maturing sentient beings, are the works of demons. Being angry with Bodhisattvas, and not proclaiming the praises of those who speak the Dharma, are also the works of demons. Abandoning the roots of virtue that have been properly taken up, and accepting unwholesome thoughts, are also the works of demons. Even when dwelling in solitude, desiring sensual pleasures, and having thoughts of harming and injuring, and even when entering into a gathering of the Sangha, being surrounded by gain and honor, are the works of demons. Teaching the Dharma to those who are not vessels, and disparaging those who have become vessels, are also the works of demons. Not understanding such works of demons, and being distracted from the mind of omniscience, are also the works of demons. Thus, and so on, it has been said. In short, as it is said in the Sutra of the Manifestation of the Noble Manjushri: In short, to whatever extent there is wavering, arrogance, elaboration, and duality, to that extent it is the work of demons. It should be understood from the point of view of meaning. Furthermore, it is said in the same text: Son of the gods, the work of the demons of the Bodhisattva should be understood as arising from diligence. Therefore, it should be known that at the time of diligent practice, the works of demons will appear. Having recognized these, they should be averted, as it is said in the chapter of the Noble One Who Has Gone Beyond the World: O sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the means by which Bodhisattvas avert the works of demons. What are the ten? Thus, completely abandoning all arrogance for the sake of serving virtuous friends is averting the works of demons. I
