As previously stated, Bodhisattvas should cultivate all paths. To familiarize Bodhisattvas with omniscience, their cultivation is with outflows. This is because they do not specifically abandon afflictions, but merely suppress them. However, when Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas cultivate, it is without outflows. This is because they abandon afflictions like discarding poisoned arrows. The phrase "in due order" indicates the meaning. The statement "because afflictions are not completely abandoned" is like how dung and impurities in the great city of Light Protector are beneficial to sugarcane fields, rice fields, and sesame fields. Similarly, the Light Protector said that the afflictions of Bodhisattvas are also beneficial for Bodhi, therefore they are not abandoned. Furthermore, it is taught: Those endowed with great skillful means, Afflictions transform into limbs of Bodhi. Here, the meaning of limb is the meaning of cause. Outflow (藏文:ཟག་པ་,梵文天城体:āsrava,梵文罗马拟音:asrava,汉语字面意思:漏), is a specific name for afflictions, because these cause beings to leak and fall in those realms, therefore it is called outflow, outflow is a synonym for falling. Similarly, bondage, fetters, latent tendencies, near afflictions, pervasive entanglement, torrents, union, grasping, knots, obscurations, otherness, stains, suffering, heaviness, misconduct, poverty, pervasive burning, disturbance, strife, plague, forest combination, obstacles, etc., are also terms that can be used to express afflictions. The phrase "with special combinations" refers to the four that are in accordance with the aspects of discernment. Special refers to being different from Sravakas, etc., becoming special due to causes and holding, etc. Or, the combinations previously taught in the context of the three omnisciences are not supreme because they are objects of hearing and thinking. But here, because the practice of cultivation has been done, it is considered supreme. Here, the combinations are also summarized as twenty, and what is taught is the part that is in accordance with the aspects of definite discernment.

It should be known that it is said to combine in the stage of all four. The meaning of the words is easy to understand. As for the term "qualities," these qualities are possessed from the stage of the initial practitioner, but to say that they are well attained, they should be applied up to the attainment of warmth. The meaning of the words is easy to understand, so I will not elaborate. As for the term "obstacles," which means faults, although it can be established that they are present from the stage of the initial practitioner to the ordinary path of practice, these faults are mostly established in the stage of the initial practitioner and the path of union. In this way, qualities are possessed on higher and higher paths, while faults should be understood to be present on lower and lower paths. Now, this should be stated. As it says in the Sutra Requested by Noble Akashagarbha: "Thoroughly understanding the activities of Mara is summarized by the Perfection of Wisdom and the instructions of virtuous friends." Among these, in terms of the Perfection of Wisdom, it is the stage of complete acceptance, and one should understand the extensive teachings in the sutra at this time. What is well summarized from other scriptures? That is the instruction of virtuous friends. As it is said in the chapter of the Noble Transcendent One: "O sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the Maras of the Bodhisattvas. What are the ten? They are: Thus, due to manifest attachment, it is the Mara of the aggregates; due to becoming an opportunity, it is the Mara of afflictions; due to obscuration, it is the Mara of karma; due to solicitation, it is the Mara of mind; due to causing separation from birth, it is the Mara of doubt; due to agitation and arrogance, and acting carelessly, it is the Mara of the sons of the gods; due to attachment to that, it is the Mara of the roots of virtue; due to causing one to experience taste, it is the Mara of samadhi; due to images, it is the Mara of virtuous friends; due to not accomplishing aspirations, it is the Mara of understanding the wisdom of Dharma. O sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the Maras of the Bodhisattvas, and Bodhisattvas should strive to completely abandon them." Again, in the same text, it says: "O sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the activities of the Maras of the Bodhisattvas. What are the ten? They are: Thus, causing the mind of enlightenment to decline.
