The term "union" refers to the union of habitual tendencies. Those who have exhausted their habitual tendencies will not be united with rebirth. Alternatively, union through habitual tendencies is union through habitual tendencies, which is the third collection. The term "possessing abandonment" means possessing exhaustion, which demonstrates the fruit of separation. If that is the case, union with rebirth is caused by habitual tendencies. However, since the Bhagavan does not possess these, what is the cause of becoming the son of King Śuddhodana, etc.? This is the wisdom of the Great Sage accomplishing deeds, examining the faculties and inclinations of those to be tamed. It is merely regarded as "this is the youth Sarvārthasiddha," and there is no union whatsoever. Thus, in the sutra of the Mother of the Conquerors, it is said, "Subhuti, this body of mine is the basis of omniscient wisdom." Why is the body not directly shown as wisdom? Because for children, if it is directly said, "This is wisdom," it is very difficult for them to believe, so it is said "basis," which is merely conforming to worldly conventions. In reality, from its own nature, wisdom itself appears as color and form, and appears as relics, etc. Therefore, in the Mahayana Sutra "The Noble Root of Virtue Completely Embracing," it is also said, "I have not established lineage, nor have I taken birth, nor have I distinguished its color, it is not inferior to the form body." Moreover, the teacher also said, "In conventional truth, it is only wisdom, which accomplishes benefit through the means of generating appearances as the enjoyment body, etc., therefore it is the Dharma body." Therefore, the Bhagavan is always a single, immeasurable manifestation of wisdom, but merely because of acting for the sake of taming those to be tamed, it is established as various forms of body and wisdom. Therefore, the nature of the Victorious One should not be differentiated due to the different attachments of those to be tamed. The term "basis" refers to the aggregates, etc., which for children are the basis for grasping at self and what belongs to self, recognizing that it is selfless, and distinguishing abandonment, etc., therefore it is the basis, together

It is obtained by using the name of just one word together. (Or) The basis of all paths is the basis, first because it is to be relied upon. Therefore, in the Mahayana Sutra called "Arya Ksitigarbha Ten Wheel Sutra," it is also said: 'Children are attached to their senses and are lazy, and do not diligently practice the Two Vehicles. They will not possess the wheel of the Great Vehicle. That is not a vessel for the vast Great Vehicle.' Therefore, at that time, it is both the basis and the wisdom, showing the collection of the same basis. Having thus shown the prostration, now we must explain the meaning of stating the purpose and so on. In the phrase 'by creating doubt about the meaning,' the meaning refers to all that shows the order of realization of the Mother of the Buddhas, which is here taken as the meaning to be expressed. Creating doubt about these is the very first statement of the two verses showing the purpose and so on. How is it? Because of the first statement, those with discernment will think, 'Is it that the commitment that there are purposes and so on exists only as these? If not, then it will be known by listening to one's own treatise and so on, but not otherwise.' If one thinks that there are purposes and so on as stated at the beginning, then I too will respectfully abide here.' Then one engages in listening and so on. Therefore, the purpose and so on are not shown in the middle and at the end, but only showing it at the beginning is itself creating doubt about the meaning, and that itself is also a limb of engagement. If so, why is it not also shown at the beginning of the prostration? Because prostrating after starting work is not the custom in the world, and according to the custom shown as before, first, by stating the qualities of the Mother, those with discernment will also develop faith, and having developed faith, they will also examine in detail the qualities of those purposes and so on, therefore, prostration is also like the purpose and so on, it is a limb to be done before the limb of engagement, so there is no fault. 'One's own treatise' refers to this verse that summarizes all the instructions for showing the order of realization of the Mother of the Buddhas, like a root treatise. What is to be expressed is the Mother of the Buddhas.
