They are the same terms. Since they are the same object, isn't it the case that the path of meditation is included within the path of seeing? If it is said that meditation is meaningless, then, however, this is because it mentions "that which is to be abandoned by it" and so forth. The object to be abandoned by it, because it is the antidote to that opposing side that is abandoned by the path of meditation, is therefore meditated upon. If it is said that since it is the same object, how can there be different functions? This is because it mentions "the nature of dependent arising," because the objects of cause and effect are inconceivable. What is the manner of practice? What is the object of focus? What is the support? What is the necessity of non-attachment and so forth? To dispel these doubts, it mentions "in this way" and so forth. If it is done in this way, then "in this way" refers to abiding in the general instruction. The cause of going without turning back is the cause of going without turning back. The cause of not being led by other vehicles is the cause of not being led to the ultimate end. The cause of going without relying on others is because one knows oneself that one will not be led astray by demons and so forth. Because it belongs to the Sangha Jewel, it is thought that all the differences of the Sangha are only realizations, therefore the two classifications are meaningless. In order to be easily understood, it mentions "in order to be easily understood." The Bodhisattvas of the Sangha Jewel have differences such as dull faculties, which are explained by the phrases "dull faculties" and so forth. Mentioning "that which will be explained" and so forth, "relying on the path of seeing" refers to the fifteen moments of the mind of the path of seeing. With the distinction of those who follow with faith and Dharma, that is, those who follow with faith and wisdom, attaining the first fruit, that is, possessing the fruit of stream-enterer, divided into two types: dull faculties and sharp faculties. That is, understanding after a long time and understanding quickly. After that, the mind that is still not separated from desire for that very thing,

Sixteen moments are the entry into the stream. After that, by cultivating that very path, by completely abandoning the four types of afflictions, from the lineage of gods and humans, there are two other types: those who are born two or three times in gods and humans, from the lineage of gods to the lineage, and from the lineage of humans to the lineage, are born into lineages. After that, those with dull or sharp faculties are attained through faith and vision. Those who possess faith and wisdom, in desire, by abandoning the five afflictions, enter the second fruit, that is, they possess the accomplishment of the once-returning fruit, which is the only one. After that, by abandoning the six afflictions in desire, it is the once-returning fruit. After that, because only one birth remains for them among the gods, it is another single break. After that, by abandoning the seventh and eighth afflictions in desire, they enter the third fruit, that is, they possess the accomplishment of the non-returning fruit. Those attained through faith and vision are the same as before, that is, it is said that those who enter the second and third fruits attained through faith and vision are attained through faith and vision. The extensive explanation should be understood as being due to the power of the teachings. After that, by abandoning the ninth affliction in desire, there are five aspects of non-returning, where the intermediate state and so forth are mentioned. That is, the bondage of birth is abandoned, but the bondage of manifest realization is not abandoned. Therefore, when accomplishing the intermediate existence, or when accomplishing it, by making the path of the intermediate state manifest, those who attain the cessation of suffering are those who attain Nirvana in the intermediate state. Because both bondages are not abandoned, having been born in the form realm, those who attain the cessation of suffering are those who attain Nirvana after being born. Likewise, having been born and being accompanied by manifest effort, by attaining the path of manifest realization, those who attain the cessation of suffering are those who attain Nirvana accompanied by manifest effort. The reverse of that is without manifest effort.
