are the incompatible sides. Its antidote is the path, so the two, by their distinctions, are nine each. From what does this arise? "By the distinctions of ignorance and aggregates, etc." This means by the distinctions of ignorance, etc., and the distinctions of aggregates, etc. The meaning of the verse is "what is to be grasped," etc., that is, "by the basis of complete defilement and the basis of the antidote," which means that attachment, etc., are based on complete defilement, and the arising of the mind, etc., are based on all. "By the ground and its antidote." That is the meaning. "Two kinds of grasping thought." That has been explained. "By the extreme distinction of ignorance and the purified aggregates, etc." means by the extreme distinction of ignorance, etc., and the distinction of the supreme form, etc. "Ignorance," etc., has been explained. The two kinds of grasping thought are "self, etc.," etc., which are mentioned, that is, "the basis of substance and imputation." This means that it should be understood that the grasping thought that abides in the person and the individual is considered to be of two kinds. "Likewise" means that each of them is also nine kinds. From what does this arise? "Self, etc., self-established entity." This means by the manner of viewing the self as independent, etc. "Aggregates, etc., the basis" is because it is focused on the aggregates, sense bases, elements, etc. The meaning of the verse is that because some are imputed, they are substance, that is, the person. Because it is merely imputed in name, it is imputation, that is, the individual. Focusing on it is its object, etc., with "substance," etc., being what is said. Because it focuses on the aggregates, etc., in the manner of self-independence, it is the object of self-independence and the aggregates, etc., with "independence," etc., and "likewise," etc., being what is said. The concise meaning there is this: although there are many things to be said, to put it concisely, the meaning of the four kinds of thought will be explained. Briefly, the two kinds of grasping thought of what is to be grasped are "what is to be grasped," etc., which are mentioned, that is, the basis of the four kinds of complete defilement there.

Attachment, etc., is abiding in attachment, etc. Ignorance is not knowing. The aggregates of form, etc., are form and feeling, etc. Name is the four non-form aggregates of feeling, etc. Form is the aggregate of form. Manifest clinging to these is manifest clinging to name and form. Attachment to the two extremes is clinging to the extremes of permanence and annihilation. All-encompassing defilement is due to attachment, etc. Complete purification is nirvana. Not abiding in the noble path is manifest clinging to the path of seeing, etc. The object of focus is manifest clinging to form, etc. Self, etc., is attachment and other conceptions, etc. Generating complete purity, etc., is not generating the complete purity of the three spheres, that is, the three complete purities of correct practice. Among them, it is abiding in the path of the antidote to the conceptualization of the nature of the object to be grasped. Aggregates are the aggregates. The gates of birth are the sense bases of the eye, etc. The species is the eighteen realms. Birth is dependent origination. Emptiness is selflessness. The meaning of going to the other shore is Buddhahood itself. The path of seeing, the path of meditation, and the path of no more learning are three, among which, those are the conceptualizations of the nature of the object to be grasped. Some say that among them, the alaya-vijñana is only the first conceptualization of the object to be grasped, and only the basis of complete purification is the second, therefore these are the differences between these two conceptualizations of the object to be grasped. If it is done like that, then whatever the first conceptualization of the object to be grasped is, the second is also that. It is said to show the former, temporarily whatever the first is, the second is also that, just like this, the alaya-vijñana will initially become the conceptualization of the object to be grasped, but the second is not the first, just like this, the second conceptualization of the object to be grasped only relies on complete purification, they say like that. Others say that the difference between these two is that, through the meaning of other discriminations, the first is relying on the basis of all-encompassing defilement, while the second is only relying on complete purification, they say like that. Now the conceptualization of the grasper is called the grasper.
