Detailed Explanation of the Branches Detailed Explanation of the Branches Commentary on the First Chapter Starting with "Those who seek peace, the Hearers," it first speaks of the knowledge of all things, then the knowledge of the path, and finally the knowledge of all aspects. If this is the case, how can the meaning be summarized in this way? Isn't it a reversal? When such doubts arise, the necessary meaning is stated, such as "Having shown all the meanings summarized in this way." With this order of explanation, Bodhisattvas, with the intention of attaining enlightenment, that is, Buddhahood, for the benefit of others, because it is the result, it is said, "Because it is the non-erroneous realization." It is necessary to attain and manifest the knowledge of all aspects, and for this reason, first is the knowledge of all aspects, that is, the summarized verse "Generating the Mind of Enlightenment," etc. By explaining it, because this is the occasion for distinguishing it, it is intended to explain it. It is clearly intended to closely reveal the very nature of the meaning of the words of the Perfection of Wisdom through a special way. The verses praising the Mother, such as "Those who seek peace, the Hearers," in any way can make the true meaning complete, so it is considered that there is nothing to refute. The object and nature of generating the mind of enlightenment are the nature of aspiration and entry that focuses on the benefit of sentient beings. Generating the mind of enlightenment is, as stated in "Generating the Mind of Enlightenment," etc. Great joy and great effort. Great meaning and great arising. The thought of the Bodhisattva is, The arising of the mind with two meanings. As explained, mind and mental factors are said to have differences. How is it used as a guide here? As stated in "With intention, perfect and complete enlightenment is," etc., because the desire for virtuous Dharma is to enter into non-attachment, etc., it is the nature of goodness, wanting to manifest enlightenment for the benefit of others. The mind appears to be elevated to a special object, that is, it appears to be focused on the benefit of others. It is said that the cause shows the result, and the cause is the desire for virtuous Dharma.

The fruit is the generation of the mind of enlightenment (bodhicitta), because it is precisely through a strong desire for the Dharma that one generates the mind of enlightenment towards awakening. Therefore, it is considered that there is no fault in closely connecting these two and making them one, and it should be understood as such. Alternatively, aspiration is the pursuit of a goal. Therefore, here, praying to attain Buddhahood for the sake of others is the meaning of aspiration, while practicing generosity and so on is the meaning of engagement, which is said according to the circumstances. Practicing together with this, that is, the generation of the mind of enlightenment that practices together with the pursuit of a goal, refers to the desire to attain perfect and complete enlightenment. This includes connection, refutation, and response, and the following content should also be examined. Therefore, this is the mind of enlightenment associated with aspiration, which is realized together with the pursuit of a goal. The so-called "from the three types of the Mother of the Buddhas, the Perfection of Wisdom," refers to the Hundred Thousand Verses, the Twenty-five Thousand Verses, and the Eight Thousand Verses, and emphasis should be placed on this. This is connected to the following text. The so-called "generosity and so on," in the perfection of generosity, the object of generosity, that is, the item; the giver, that is, oneself; the receiver, that is, the beggar, are not fixated upon, that is, in that suchness, because the object of generosity and so on are not to be fixated upon. The so-called "should emphasize," and such as "extremely showing, with words of undertaking," one should emphasize learning, and should accomplish it in a yogic way. One should learn, one should accomplish it in a yogic way, and so on. The so-called "in brief and extensive ways," such as "all three" are brief, and such as "generosity" are extensive. The so-called "not contradicting the meaning of the sutra," refers to the seven jewels and the arrangement of trees and so on, which do not contradict the meaning of the sutra. The so-called "declaring perfect and complete enlightenment" refers to the act of the Bhagavan declaring the path of the cause of perfect and complete enlightenment to capable bodhisattvas for the sake of others. In the same way
