"Pa dang" refers to the conventional truth of clinging to forms and so on as being real. The ultimate truth is that by seeing suchness, those very things are without self. Whatever mental activity there is towards those things, like establishing and refuting forms and so on, that is, forms and feelings, are seen as objects, like seeing illusory forms and so on, where things appear but are without substance. However, this is not the ultimate truth, so these two objects are like illusions, and should be regarded as such. This is what he means. "All names are without essence" means that they are without essence in the ultimate truth. Even if they do not actually exist, they are like a continuous stream, because their own category is manifest without remainder and is pervasive, so it is continuous, that is, a generality. Whatever is different from that is clearly stated here as its own characteristic. The continuous is similar to the former. The characteristics of these two, that is, the characteristics of self and generality, in terms of their function in meaning, are the nature of being able and not being able, but in reality they do not exist, because there is no speaker, so there is nothing to be spoken. This is what he means. Is it not the case that self-characteristics cannot be spoken of even in the conventional truth? Sounds are objects to be eliminated, so how can they be refuted there? Although this is true, when sounds merge into clarity, sometimes there is clinging to what can be spoken, so it is possible to refute existence, and there is no fault in this. This refers to being free from a place. Great warmth refers to the imputation of all phenomena such as forms, that is, names. This refers to the great object and so on, such as from form to Buddha and so on, through imputed phenomena, just as names are universally applied, names are determined by the idea that Buddha and detachment are one. This refers to the fact that it cannot be spoken of by names such as form and so on. Having the meaning of warmth refers to such things as, if there is no interruption after this, it will transform into the path of seeing, so below, corresponding to the part of liberation, is the distinction of warmth. The object of the root of virtue of the peak realization and

Form Small, medium, and large refer to form, etc., and so on, which is what is said. 'Form, etc., does not abide' means not clinging to what appears to be existent. Why is that? Because those forms, etc., in their essence, mean that the nature of form, etc., is without essence. 'Those' refers to form, etc., and emptiness; these are mutual, and their nature or essence is the same. 'It does not abide in impermanence, etc.' means not clinging to the impermanence and suffering, etc., of form, etc. 'Those' refers to the emptiness of form, etc., which is empty in its essence, meaning that because it is emptiness, it is selfless in its essence, and those, i.e., form, etc., and emptiness, are mutual, and their nature is the same. 'What does not grasp phenomena' means that form, etc., are not truly existent, so one does not take them as one's own. 'Because those marks are not seen' means that because in reality the marks of form, etc., are not seen. 'With wisdom' means it is the cause of discriminating form, etc., i.e., the distinction of wisdom. 'Completely realizing it' means that in reality, the object of discrimination, one knows that form, etc., and all phenomena are without existence and without substance. That is, 'Everything is without object,' etc., which is what is said. 'The small object' refers to, etc., which is the connection. By correctly and completely discriminating phenomena, one engages and examines with wisdom, i.e., by realizing that the parts of form, etc., are unborn, and contemplating, with what wisdom one sees form, etc., as unborn, one should also contemplate that discriminating wisdom as unborn, which is the concluding statement. This explains from the perspective of dharma that the perfection of wisdom is without form and without essence. 'The moving root of virtue' refers to something that, like faith, etc., becomes increasingly excellent and moves, so the moving root of virtue is called warmth. Because it is its excellence, it is called the peak, etc.
