The so-called "separation from one and many" and other terms, the self-doctrine scriptures that are established by reason, are like the doctrine of impermanence for the doctrine of permanence, or like thinking of the water of mirages as real water, that doctrine is unreasonable. The Holy Maitreya, with his own self-verifying wisdom, observed that in order to eliminate the manifest attachment to the real and unreal of their beginningless existence, he grasped the right reason with great compassion. The so-called "by the path of seeing" and so on, is to say that the inner and outer heretics think that my afflictions have been exhausted and will not be produced again, and those who know the exhaustion and non-birth, because of the true nature of afflictions and so on, there is no exhaustion and non-birth, the absence of cessation is its nature, and it is irreversible, because of the manifest attachment to the real, so it is caused by not knowing one's own nature. So what fault will arise from this? The so-called "distinction" and so on, the kind of distinction is the nature of distinction. What is exhausted? It is cessation. Or what form will the nature of distinction, unbirth, obtain? It means, what will the unbirth Dharma produce? Nothing will be produced. If the afflictions retreat, then the distinctions arising from it will also retreat, if so, then as just said, the nature of afflictions and so on, guided by the true nature established by reason, and the nature of knowing exhaustion and non-birth, is because of the manifest attachment to the real, and not knowing one's own nature, so the inner and outer heretics do not know. Therefore, because of not knowing the nature of afflictions, how can the path of seeing make afflictions and so on retreat? If it retreats, then how can the distinctions that arise from it one after another retreat? Because there is a cause, the situation where the fruit retreats is not found anywhere. With this kind of thinking, the meaning expressed in verse by explaining the intention of the Holy Maitreya is "born" and so on. The so-called "born and unborn in order" means that those who are born with afflictions and so on, complete destruction is exhaustion, annoyance

That which hinders the arising of afflictions and the like that have not yet arisen, because there is no proximate cause, they do not arise. And what is the cessation of the characteristics of these? It is desired that those are the very fruit of the path of seeing. To be separated from that is to speak of what is ultimately true, and so on. Ultimate truth is reality itself, because it is able to be properly discerned and to endure examination. Therefore, the nature of suchness is self-nature, and it is the self-nature of the nature of the Dharmadhatu. You who cling to the distorted appearance of things, refers to you who cling to the distorted appearance of things. By the power of the path of seeing refers to what was said earlier. What is exhausted by the nature of arising from discriminations and the like? It refers to the discriminations of afflictions and the like. What habit arises from where and ceases? What arises from the unborn, the unborn of the Dharma of non-arising? Because there is no arising, there is nothing at all. Therefore, you cling to non-existence, the path of seeing is not the path itself. For this reason, we should only accept our own doctrine, because only the characteristic of pervasive selflessness is the path to enlightenment, so it is reasonable to rely on it, that is what is thought. This is the intention of the noble Maitreya. If one truly acknowledges things and wants to eliminate the fault of not having enlightenment as previously stated, it is not so, and so on. Not so, means abandoning our doctrine. If one acknowledges that the Dharma truly exists, it means that if one clings to form and the like as truly existing, then the afflictions and knowable discriminations of the Bhagavan, the perfect Buddha, are what was said earlier. That itself is an obstacle as before, and the cessation obtained by abandoning those is a wonderful place in every way, this is impossible. The verses in between say that the dharmas also, etc. If one truly acknowledges that the dharmas, i.e., form and the like, also exist, then also for the knowable, etc.
