This is because it is said that it can produce such a fruit. The so-called "Thus Come One's acceptance" refers to the intention of the Thus Come Ones who know the way sentient beings abide without error. Because of that reason, it will not excessively become numerous, meaning it will not excessively become countless paths of practice, etc. Because the realm of phenomena is countless, etc., the merits of yogis are countless, etc., this is so in the conventional truth, but not in the ultimate truth. If the cause of merit, such as the decisive factors, etc., and giving, etc., are countless, etc., then how can its fruit be countless, etc.? If its fruit is not countless, etc., then in that case, the Blessed One is not speaking falsely. Because he knows the way sentient beings abide without error, just like people and things, that is why he shows it in this way. This is how it is understood. Moreover, "Because of near harm, what is truly said is a lie, what is the meaning of true and untrue, accomplishing the benefit of others is true." That is what is said. If the nature of afflictions is emptiness, then because it does not exist, what is the use of practicing? If there is truly a nature, then what is the use of practicing? Because nature cannot be changed. In any case, the path of practice of the decisive factors, etc., is emptiness, etc., considering it meaningless with the characteristic of emptiness, refers to the opposing factors of clinging, etc., the path of the decisive factors, etc., and the mind that practices it does not exist, because the measure of separation from one and many, etc., is universally present. This is the debater's thought. Because perfect habituation cannot be done, it means that even if one is respectful, uninterrupted, and has studied for a long time, one should not strive, because habituating to non-existent things is like a human horn cannot become a rabbit horn.

Therefore, the path of meditation that is merely 'doing nothing' is incapable of doing anything. Where no distinctions can be made and no forms exist, it is impossible for an agent to exist. Therefore, for the sake of those of inferior intellect, it is necessary to explain that the paths of distinguishing branches, etc., exist on the conventional level, and for those who do not understand the extremes of the rationality of cause and effect, the introduction of concepts such as 'things' is to dispel their doubts. The explanation of the meaning of the words is 'dharmata' and so on, because emptiness of self-nature itself, truly, is neither this nor other, neither both nor neither; neither different nor non-different, neither both nor neither, is inexpressible, therefore hearing and so on cannot be done. So, is this established on the conventional level? Or is it not established? (Answer:) It is said 'the self-nature of dharmata', truly it is the nature of non-dual wisdom. Because of these differences of causes, therefore, because it is the nature of non-dual wisdom, the inexpressible is the nature of the path of manifest desire. The previously mentioned path of meditation, because it is inexpressible, does not exist as a thing like a person and so on. Therefore, through the path called 'meditation', the aspects and antidotes that do not conform to the cause, which were previously mentioned, cannot be separated and produced in order. Therefore, in order to 'the ultimate achievement of meditation is impossible', truly, because there is no path of meditation, the ultimate achievement of meditation is impossible, therefore it is said 'therefore' and so on. For the path of meditation spoken of on the conventional level, hearing and so on can be done, but it is not so on the ultimate level, therefore it is said 'therefore' and so on. For those who have no object of meditation, even if truly, the act of meditation and its meaning, and the characteristics of cutting off afflictions and generating bodhi do not exist, this is true. Even so, yogis have things and so on on the conventional level, therefore meditation exists. Therefore, bodhi as it is
