Affirmative. If someone asks, is it only through having skillful means that one attains enlightenment, or is it not so? The answer is, it is indeed so. Merely possessing, meaning merely possessing faith and so on, does not lead to the attainment of unsurpassed enlightenment, nor is it generated in the conventional sense. Why is that? This is the nature of reality. Because this path to enlightenment is inconceivable, only through great wisdom that is sharp and clear, having been cultivated increasingly over countless eons, reaching the ultimate, can one easily realize perfect and complete enlightenment. Know that for those who are dull, those small faiths and so on that cannot manifest are difficult to understand and recognize in their youth. Here, merely possessing faith and so on, and from those themselves mentioned, indeed there are two methods of enlightenment, all of which are impliedly stated. Here, through the distinction of great, medium, and small wisdom, the differentiation of the three enlightenments is shown. Therefore, through the great of the great wisdom, perfect enlightenment can be manifested. Even if other faiths and so on are not mentioned, by the power of that wisdom, those who attain medium and small wisdom cannot transform the activities of the enlightenment of the self-realized Buddha and the Hearers into others. Therefore, know that in all the Great Vehicle, these two enlightenments are explained as the opposite of perfect enlightenment. This is an implied expression. The verses corresponding to warmth and so on, which are in accordance with the decisive part, are explained through "all ways" and so on. Because there is no bad way, and the consideration of the meaning of the present and the future, and the subduing of pride, and the absence of obvious harm, therefore, in order, are the five minds such as equanimity. The parental minds of these minds and so on are mentioned. The realization at the peak is described through "in short" and so on. In short, it is not dependent on distinction. Non-virtue is non-attachment and so on. Virtue is the opposite of this, it is decline and acceptance.

That which is called "through the door of..." is that by means of abandoning and adopting, others are turned away from sin, and those who abide in virtue are made to engage in right understanding. Since virtue and non-virtue are two, there are two aspects. Likewise, for those who have entered, turning oneself and others away from sin and engaging in virtue is praising others and making them conform. Since praising and conforming are two, there are two aspects. Since what is to be joined and the one who joins, and its object are limitless, the aspects are indeed limitless, therefore, the differentiation of the Dharma, and so on, are mentioned. Thus, focusing on sentient beings and making them the object is the ultimate. One's own actions, and so on, have been explained. "For those who have become the ultimate," and so on, is the explanation of self and others, and so on. "As before," and so on, is the explanation of the same excellent Dharma, and so on. Furthermore, these that are in accordance with the aspect of definite distinction are each divided into three aspects by the distinction of small, medium, and large. Among them, the small warmth of realization is the mind of equanimity and love, because at that time there is no harm to others. The medium is the intention to benefit others in the future with the three minds of benefit, and so on. The great is shown by generating the mind of father, and so on, because at that time it is the desire to accomplish the desires of others in this and future lives. The small belonging to the ultimate is the union of oneself and others turning away from sin, and the desire to turn others away from the continuum of suffering. The medium is the manifest desire to join others to the cause of virtue by oneself and others abiding in generosity, and so on. The great is the intention to abandon the perverted thoughts of the happiness and suffering of others by oneself and others entering into the cultivation of the two kinds of dependent arising. Patience is explained as small, medium, and large, in order, for sentient beings.
