It is definitely arising, that is: the characteristic of attainment is definitely arising. Thus it is said. Others are easy to understand for those who know the methods. In the Treatise on the Perfection of Wisdom Instructions, Ornament for Clear Realization, the commentary on the first chapter from the commentary on the difficult points by Dharmakirti on the text of the Venerable Lion Good is explained. Commentary on the Second Chapter: "The realization of all aspects of omniscience," etc., speaks of the nature of knowing the path. The light of intrinsic nature arises from wisdom. The light of maturation arises from karma. The meaning of the verses such as "the nature of knowing the path" is explained by mentioning "that," etc. "That" refers to the four noble truths. The aspect of the truth of suffering is to be expressed in order as impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness. "To be expressed in order" is the remainder. It is said to be impermanent and suffering because it is of the nature of arising and ceasing and is incompatible. Although suffering and impermanence are the same, the contaminated and uncontaminated are different, so it is incompatible with the noble path. Because it is uncontaminated, it should be seen as conforming to the noble ones. Because it is empty of a self examined by others, it is the selflessness of emptiness. Because it is selflessly self-existent, its characteristic is peace. It should be connected with "the nature of these aspects is unobtainable," etc. This refers to the four aspects of impermanence, suffering, selflessness, and peace. Regarding the truth of the origin, the cause is the root cause of suffering, the origin is temporary suffering, arising is extremely temporary suffering, and the condition is the transmission of suffering from one to another. Their nature is disease, such as indigestion, and pox and sores are merely names. Sin is destruction, the nature of these aspects is unobtainable, etc.

Destruction is as before. These are the four aspects of the nature of the continuum and so forth, namely disease, sores, pain, and sin. Other aspects of the truths previously explained are those such as renunciation. Renunciation is weariness. Abandoning desire is turning one's back on objects. Cessation is the state where the mind and mental factors do not function or where the mind enters a subtle state. "Having entered for the sake of that meaning" means becoming one who possesses practice, which comes from the teachings of the Hearers. It should be connected sequentially after suffering and so forth. The characteristic of renunciation means renunciation itself. The aspects of "other" and "things subject to destruction" mean that by becoming an outsider, it is "other." Becoming an outsider is itself a thing subject to destruction, therefore it is a thing subject to destruction; these are the aspects of renunciation. The aspects of abandoning desire are said to be the aspects of wavering and utter destruction. Because it does not abide in its own nature, it is wavering. Because it is destroyed by its own nature without depending on causes, it is utter destruction. These are the aspects of abandoning desire. By "cessation" and so forth, other aspects are explained. Because it becomes a place of destruction in this and future lives, it is destruction. Because it becomes a place of harm for rakshasas and so forth, it is contagion and disturbance of the great elements. Because it becomes a place of suddenness, it is harm. Each of these is a three-fold aspect of cessation. The nature of these is not found, as before. Because the aspects of renunciation and so forth belong to the two truths, each should be viewed as two. Thus, renunciation has the other and things subject to destruction, abandoning desire has the eight aspects of wavering and utter destruction, and cessation has the six aspects of destruction, contagion, and harm, for a total of fourteen aspects. By "cessation" and so forth, afflictions

Because of being separated from self, it is selflessness; because suffering is completely pacified, it is peace; because of the wonderful form and being separated from self, that is, being separated from happiness and purity, it is separation, these three forms. What is renunciation? That is Nirvana. Its characteristic is that because of permanence and beneficial things, emptiness and so on are a form. The nature of these is as mentioned before. The so-called truth of the path, because of the meaning of perfection, is the path. Because there is no affliction and it becomes a collection of antidotes to affliction, it is wisdom. Because it makes the mind realize without inversion, it is practice. Because it tends to the constant place without manifest clinging, it is renunciation. The nature of these forms, non-appearance and so on, is as mentioned before. In this order, some forms in the Mahayana are names, and some are self-nature, because they are shown in this way, so it will not become the fault of the Hearer's path. Like this and so on, it is to show the meaning of the determined words, that is, the aggregates of form and so on, their respective natures are the root, the five objects, the non-discriminating and the experience, etc., because these are emptiness, so the emptiness of these, that is, the various emptinesses of form and so on, are not different from each other, and are unique. Form and so on have already been said. Similarly, for form and so on, it is easy to understand. Because of what and so on, for the superior meaning of the Dharma, what is needed is this: Because our omniscient one has eliminated all afflictions including habits, he observes and knows things with and without as illusory nature. Apart from that, the dominating self and so on are unreasonable, so who else is a reliable measure besides the Tathagata? The so-called Hearer's path and so on, profoundly declares the wisdom of the Pratyekabuddha. Whatever is expressed in language is the teaching of the Dharma.
