The field of activity connected with nominal terms, and the nominal terms of dharma and non-emptiness, attachment and the nature of good selection, turning to things and the three vehicles, merit that is not pure, and to confused conduct, holding as the former, is what is declared to be known. As it is said, because it does not arise as a substance, it is established as a sentient being, because the appearance is exhausted, it is established as dharma, because it pervades everything, in the dharma of all-knowingness, etc., it is non-emptiness, because the appearance of all kinds is not abandoned, it is attached to the dharma, because it realizes no self-nature, it is the good selection of dharma, because it does not act for the sake of it, it acts for the sake of things, because it does not focus on form, etc., it is definitely liberated by the three vehicles, because it is not well entered, the merit is impure, because it is cultivated by focusing on generosity, etc., in the confused conduct, holding and discriminating as before, these are the nine kinds of objects of the preliminary stage of the path of meditation. Fifth chapter. Having shown the first in this way, the second discrimination of holding, the nominal term of sentient beings and its cause, the object is destroyed by it, because it is related to the path of meditation, the other nine kinds of contradictory categories. As it is said, the second discrimination of holding the contradictory categories, established as sentient beings, and the cause of establishing it there, the object of mere appearance, because it is to be correctly abandoned by the path of meditation, it is related to it in nine ways. How are there nine kinds? As said by the two intermediate verses, the self is as such, the all-knowing one, the three obscurations of the three and, the peaceful path is as such, nature, etc. and, possessing similarly and not possessing, unequal suffering, etc. and, the nature of all afflictions and, in the two, there is no other, universal ignorance, it is established as the last of discriminations. As it is said, because all aspects are not completely known, there is universal ignorance in the obscuration of all-knowingness, because all paths are not completely known, there is universal ignorance in the obscuration of path-knowingness, because all bases are not completely known, all wisdom

Being universally bewildered by the obscuration of knowing all things due to not understanding, and being universally bewildered on the path of pacifying all things due to not fully understanding the Perfection of Wisdom; and being universally bewildered by being compatible and incompatible with suchness, etc., due to not fully understanding knowable things such as form and suchness; and being universally bewildered by inequality due to not fully understanding the nature of demons, etc.; and being universally bewildered by the truth of suffering, etc., due to grasping words as they are in meaning; and being universally bewildered by the nature of afflictions due to not fully understanding the nature of desire, etc.; and being universally bewildered by non-duality due to not fully understanding the characteristics of the apprehended and the apprehender. As before, the conceptualization of grasping, the latter being the object of the stage of entering the mind and mental factors of the path of meditation, is considered to be nine types. It should be understood that the four opposing factors of the path of meditation are distinct by their divisions, as the four antidotes are also abandoned. As before, at the same time as abandoning the one hundred and eight conceptualizations, abandoning the one hundred and eight afflictions included by them, all the perfect qualities rely on the Bodhisattva residing on the path of meditation. This is the intermediate verse spoken by the mouth: When these plague diseases are exhausted, like breathing out after a long time, in every way, all the perfect qualities of accomplishing happiness for beings, like rivers to the great ocean, hidden by the supreme fruit, for that great Bodhisattva, in every way, they rely. This is what it means. By becoming accustomed to the path of meditation, the four types of conceptualization cause harm, these which have become plague diseases are exhausted, without obstruction, like obtaining a breath of joy. Due to compassion, being under the control of others, in every way, creating happiness for beings, the perfect qualities of skill, all included by the three vehicles, like rivers to the great ocean. The Bodhisattvas residing on the path of meditation, adorned by obtaining the ultimate of the supreme fruit, for them
