That which enables all desired things to be accomplished spontaneously, and that which does not manifest the fruit of definite departure from the three vehicles, these, according to their respective times, are the seven actions, such as refuge, of the very nature of knowing the path, by means of accomplishing them as they are. By means of accomplishing the meaning of showing all the dharmas of all-knowingness, all-knowingness is the only activity of the basis. Thus, by the aspects of the actions, the combination of the three all-knowingnesses is truly represented, therefore it is the nature of action. What is the nature of the dharmas that are known by the nature of action? The nature of the self is explained by three intermediate verses: Afflictions, signs, and characteristics, unfavorable factors and antidotes, solitude, difficulty, and certainty, purpose and non-object, and the prevention of manifest clinging, what is called object, unfavorable, unimpeded, and its nature, baseless, unmoving, unborn, suchness is non-objective, the nature of sixteen self-natures, as illustrated by weapons, it is therefore considered to be of four natures. Thus it is said, afflictions such as desire, and its signs, the bad state of the body, and its characteristics, such as improper attention, and unfavorable factors and antidotes such as desire and non-desire, due to emptiness, are the four solitary self-natures of all-knowingness. Sentient beings who do not exist in ultimate truth are difficult to liberate from suffering, and the nature of not falling into other vehicles, determined at one extreme, and the purpose of the supreme that should be accomplished for a long time, and the object of meditation and the dharma of the meditator without object, and the prevention of all manifest clinging to things, such are the five self-natures of knowing the path. Taking as object the difference of things contained in all-knowingness and the nature of knowing the path, and showing it by turning away from the grasping of worldly reality, it is unfavorable, and knowing form etc. without obstruction, and because the knowable and the knowing are without object, it is baseless, and because of suchness, there is no going.

And, since form and so on are without self-nature, they are without arising. The self-nature of the three, such as things and non-things, is thus unattainable. Such seven self-natures are the self-nature of omniscience. Thus, the combination of the three kinds of omniscience is represented by the sixteen self-natures as having characteristics, so the fourth is considered as the characteristic of self-nature. Thus, in general, there are a total of ninety-one characteristics. Only those who possess the root of virtue in accordance with the part of liberation can fully understand the combination as described above. In accordance with the part of liberation, the signless supreme giving, etc., those who are skilled in true practice, in this understanding of all aspects, are considered to be in accordance with the part of liberation. It is said that without signs, with the aspect of objective consciousness, from generosity and other perfections up to omniscience, those who are skilled in generating them in their own mindstream, in this complete and perfect understanding of all aspects, are considered to be in accordance with the part of liberation. If asked who that skillful one is? To show that meaning, the intermediate verse: With faith in the Buddha and so on as the object, with diligence in generosity and so on as the field of action, with perfect intention and mindfulness, with non-conceptual samadhi, in all aspects of all dharmas, with the wisdom of knowing and the five aspects, with sharp perfect enlightenment, it is considered easy to understand, and difficult for the dull to understand. It is said that faith, diligence, mindfulness, samadhi, special wisdom, and the non-inherent nature of the senses, as their number, in the five objects such as the Buddha, generosity, perfect intention, non-discrimination, and complete knowledge of all aspects of all dharmas, are the skillful ones. However, not everyone can attain unsurpassed enlightenment. Thus, with great sharpness of faith and so on, it is easy to understand unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, while those who are dull find it difficult to understand. This is the nature of dharma, so it implies that those of medium ability can attain the fruit of self-Buddhahood.
