Sa. What is dependent arising? You consider it emptiness. Because there is such a saying. Understanding the equality of the three times is the only way to understand the basis. Isn't it true that all beings possess this nature? How is it that the perfection of wisdom of the hearers and bodhisattvas, etc., becomes distant and different? This is because of clinging to characteristics. Because there is no skillful means, it is distant. Because of being skilled in skillful means, it is said to be truly near. It is said like this. Just as the objects conjured by a magician appear, but because one does not understand their own nature, and clings to them as real, emptiness does not appear. Because virtuous friends, etc., are devoid of skillful means, they understand objects as having characteristics. For those who do not understand the nature of objects, such as hearers, there is no wisdom of equality. Therefore, for them, the Mother of the Buddhas is distant. Bodhisattvas, from a long time ago, have greatly pleased virtuous friends, and through unerring instructions, are skilled in the means of arising from hearing, etc., which rely on the two truths. For those who have eliminated the illusion of clinging to objects as real, fully understanding forms, etc., is the same as fully understanding equality. Therefore, for them, this Mother is truly near. So, without skillful means, it is distant, and with skillful means, it is not distant. Thus, the practice of the hearers, etc., in which the Mother becomes distant, is itself an unfavorable factor. Forms, etc., the aggregates are emptiness, The phenomena belonging to the three times, Generosity, etc., the aspects of enlightenment, The concept of conduct is an unfavorable factor. It is said like this. For all phenomena, such as forms, etc., which belong to the three times, with and without defilements, and the nature of both not becoming real, clinging to reality, viewing the self and what belongs to the self, etc., which are imputed by others, as emptiness, although the concept of practice is their antidote, it should be abandoned because it is inverted, so it is an unfavorable factor. Bodhisattvas, on the other hand, are the antidote, generosity, etc.

It says, "In that, there is no self-grasping. Others act upon that. That can prevent greed. In kings, etc., greed is subtle." Because the three circles are pure, realizing the selflessness of generosity, etc., the union of oneself and others is the true entry, and because it prevents all places of the accumulation of greed, it is to be adopted. Therefore, in all aspects, it is an antidote. Prostrating to the Tathagata, etc., although it is the cause of the accumulation of merit, it is an antidote, but because of the nature of subtle greed, it is not in all aspects, so it is an unfavorable category. Third Chapter. Furthermore, how is subtle greed an unfavorable category? It says, "The path of Dharma is by nature, deep because of its solitude." Because all kinds of dharmas are empty only by their own nature, therefore, those are deep, and therefore, focusing on the Tathagata is also an unfavorable category. Then how to abandon it? It says, "By knowing the nature of all dharmas, only then can greed be abandoned." It says that all dharmas, such as form, are only of one nature, that is, knowing that there is no self-nature, and completely knowing that the knowable and the knower are equally one taste, then greed can be abandoned. Furthermore, how are all dharmas deep by nature? It says, "By preventing seeing, etc., it is said to be difficult to realize." It says that because all consciousness prevents the meaning of the object, therefore it is said that the nature is difficult to realize, so it is deep. Furthermore, what is so difficult to realize? It says, "Because of not knowing form, etc., it is considered inconceivable." It says that because the nature from form, etc., up to the unmixed aspects of the Buddha's qualities cannot be fully known, therefore it is considered beyond thought, so it is difficult to realize. Having thus explained the unfavorable categories, etc., it concludes by saying, "Thus, according to the principle of the all-knowing one, the distinctions of the unfavorable and antidotal categories, all without remainder, should be known here as explained." It says, the all-knowing one's
