The one who has abandoned the one hundred and eight afflictions of habitual tendencies that generate conceptual thoughts is attained through the nature of dependent origination. In order to have power over it, one repeatedly meditates on it, as stated in the intermediate verse. Then, the lion's leap. Having entered into samadhi, one contemplates the accordance and non-accordance with dependent origination. This means that the yogi who has attained the path of seeing, because there is no fear of afflictions and cognitive obscurations, enters into the samadhi of the lion's leap. Afterwards, regarding dependent origination, such as ignorance conditioning actions, which is in accordance, and the cessation of old age and death because of the cessation of birth, which is not in accordance, one contemplates them as they are. Having thus proclaimed the path of seeing, abandoning the unfavorable aspects, etc., it is easy to understand if actualization is the preliminary, so it is the path of meditating on actualization. The nine successive absorptions together with cessation, coming and going in two ways, the consciousness belonging to the desire realm, holding the boundary of non-absorption, entering into absorption in a sudden way, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, having transcended, going differently until cessation. Thus it is said, the Bodhisattvas go from the first dhyana up to cessation, and then from cessation up to the first dhyana, in this way, in two ways, in accordance with and not in accordance with, in the nine successive absorptions of the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, and the nature of cessation, having gone and come, again enter into the first dhyana, and from there arise and enter into cessation. Similarly, from the realm of nothingness up to cessation, having entered into absorption, from there arising and focusing on the immediately following absorption, the consciousness acting in the desire realm, having remained as the nature of the boundary, arising by the power of skillful means, manifesting such non-absorbed consciousness. Afterwards, entering into cessation. Afterwards, entering into non-absorption.

Below, abandoning the only cessation, in the realm of neither perception nor non-perception. Then, not abiding. Then, in both, in the realm of nothingness. Then, not abiding. Likewise, abandoning between the eight, in the first dhyana. Then, not abiding. Thus, abandoning from one and so on, up to reaching the cessation samadhi, proceeding through different doors, therefore proceeding differently, mastering the samadhi of breakthrough insight, manifestly realizing the characteristic of freedom, therefore it is the path of meditation. Having thus explained the path of meditation, in order to abandon it, it is necessary to speak of four kinds of opposing factors. Briefly, first is the conceptualization of the apprehended. Briefly, extensively, and by the Buddha, Abandoning, therefore not completely grasping, Without the qualities of the three times, The good path is threefold, This one conceptualization of the apprehended, Is the object of the aspect of application. Thus it is said, namely, following beings who delight in brevity, therefore the Dharma is brief, following beings who delight in extensiveness, therefore the Dharma is extensive, as it is said, not diligently seeking the meaning, therefore the Buddha abandons, therefore not completely grasping, because of the nature of arising and ceasing, there is no merit of the path of application, because it does not possess the cause of true arising, there is no merit of the path of seeing, because there is no future, there is no merit of the path of meditation, because of inverted peace and so on, in the path of application to Nirvana, because of the nature of manifestly realizing emptiness, in the path of seeing, because of meditating on the nature of no self-nature, in the path of meditation, the first conceptualization of the apprehended, abandoning in this state

It is discrimination. It should be understood on the path of meditation. It is said that because of being separated from virtuous friends and so on, the mind of bodhicitta does not arise; because there is no special merit of focusing on the Buddha, the essence of bodhi is not taken to heart; because it is the lineage of the Hearers, their vehicle is taken to heart; because it is the lineage of the Solitary Buddhas, their vehicle is manifested; because the Perfection of Wisdom is not practiced, perfect and complete enlightenment is not taken to heart; meditating with an object; not meditating because there is no object; because there is neither an object nor no object, there is neither meditation nor non-meditation; the second kind of discrimination that clings to what is not as it is because of inverted clinging. At that time, what should be abandoned is the state of mind and mental factors arising on the path of meditation, with nine kinds of objects. Thus, after showing the second kind of discrimination, the first kind of clinging discrimination. The object of beings' imputation, the imputation of phenomena and non-emptiness, attachment and the nature of good discrimination, the making of things and the three vehicles, merit is not pure, conduct is confused. Clinging to this, the first is, the declaration that should be known. It is said that because it does not arise as a substance, it is imputed as a sentient being; because all appearances are exhausted, it is imputed as a phenomenon; because it pervades everything, the phenomena such as all-knowing wisdom are not empty; because all kinds of clinging have not been abandoned, there is attachment to phenomena; because selflessness is realized, phenomena are well discriminated; because there is no intention, things are intended; because there is no focus on form, etc., liberation is attained through the three vehicles; because there is no true entry, merit is not pure; because practice is cultivated with a focus on generosity, etc., conduct is confused, and the discrimination of clinging as before is the object of the preparatory stage of the path of meditation, with nine kinds. Fifth volume. Thus, after showing the first kind, the second kind of clinging discrimination.
