The path of such a threefold division, this characteristic of suchness, also performs the function of manifesting the desired meaning in the conventional. However, in the ultimate sense, it is accepted as a way of negating decrease and increase, so at that time, the absence of combination is itself a combination, so there is no fault. If that is the case, is it not permissible to perform the function even in the conventional? To dispel such doubts, it is said: The mind is not enlightened by the former, nor is it by the latter. That is to say, in each of the minds that have become before and after, all the aspects of accomplishing the enlightenment of the Buddha, such as the omniscient one, do not appear, so it is not reasonable for each one to attain enlightenment. It is also not by the many minds that arise simultaneously and appear to accomplish the desired meaning, because sentient beings are each a continuum of consciousness, so it is not permissible. Accomplishing the unsurpassed enlightenment of the Buddha, up to the eighteen unmixed qualities of the Buddha, such as mindfulness and close abiding, the nature of gradually arising and realizing one's own nature, the mind and mental factors that have become before and after, are also not by many minds, because they perish as soon as they arise, without following, so there is no mutual connection. Therefore, how does one perform the function by generating a mind that manifests special meanings? This is not true. In the manner of the lamp example, there are eight aspects of the profound Dharma nature. Just as in the first moment when the flame and the wick meet, the causes of oneself arise simultaneously in a mutual way, so they are not made special. In the second moment, there is no cause and effect of burning and what is to be burned. Similarly, in the second moment when the flame and the wick arise specially, there is also the fault of becoming permanent, so without the first moment, there is no arising even in the conventional. There is no cause and effect of burning and what is to be burned. Why is it so? Therefore, at that time, only this dependent arising of the nature of conditions, if not examined, alone

Merely joy, due to the power of the connection between cause and effect, relying on the special first moment when both meet. If there are special second moments and so on that are produced by it and possess excellent power, then at that time, even without a cause, it will be destroyed, and the cause and effect will arise and perish simultaneously in order, so there is a burner and something to be burned. Therefore, even the first moment does not burn the core without relying on the second moment, and even the second moment does not burn the core without relying on the first moment of the flame, just like the analogy of a candle, the two moments that are sequential focus on making them closely connected in one place, just like that focusing on this. Just like the previous moment, relying on the previous consciousness that manifests a limited thing in order to accomplish enlightenment, because on top of that, the subsequent consciousness of the meaning of manifestation that lacks the meaning of manifestation and is more excellent arises, therefore there is reason to attain enlightenment. As it is said, only through this analogy, the eight profound dharmas should also be understood. In order to explain the characteristics of the irreversible Bodhisattvas who abide in the path of meditation, if you ask where are the eight profound ones located? The answer is: birth and cessation, suchness and knowable, knowledge and conduct and non-duality, and skillful means are profound. It is said like this. Even the previous and subsequent moments are not, and emptiness is not, but it produces the excellent meaning realized by meditation, which is dependent origination. All things from the moment of arising are empty in nature, and will also perish in the conventional, which is cessation. In all states, suchness is accustomed, but it does not manifest, which is suchness. For the nature of suchness, performing various actions such as giving, which is the knowable. By the nature of suchness, not seeing is seeing, which is knowledge. By the nature of Dharma, non-action towards everything is action, which is conduct. In the nature of non-duality, everything is
