In order to be in accordance with the part of ascertainment, under the nature of non-retrogression. For the sake of the path of seeing, the nature of non-retrogression is spoken of in one intermediate verse: On the path of seeing, having forbearance, and the sixteen moments of knowledge, know that this is the nature of the non-retrogressing bodhisattva. Thus it is spoken, regarding the truths of suffering and so on,

From here. The sixteen moments of forbearance and knowledge of Dharma and subsequent knowledge are the characteristics of non-retrogression for bodhisattvas who abide on the path of seeing. So, what kind of moment is the characteristic of non-retrogression? Regarding the various aspects, the scriptures explain with five verses: "Cessation of perception of form, etc., firmness of mind, renunciation of inferior vehicles, complete exhaustion of the limbs of dhyana, etc., lightness of body and mind, skillfulness in enjoying desires, constant celibacy, purity of livelihood, obstacles of aggregates, etc., assemblies and freedoms, etc., warfare, miserliness, etc., conjunction and subsequent conjunction, separate prohibition of dwelling places, non-attachment to Dharma even as a mote of dust, certainty in one's own ground, abiding in the three grounds, sacrificing life for Dharma, such sixteen moments are the signs of non-retrogression for the wise who dwell on the path of seeing." This means that by the emptiness of one's own nature, the attachment to form and other dharmas is stopped, by the blessings of the Buddhas, etc., the mind of unsurpassed Bodhi is firm, by practicing the special Dharma of the Great Vehicle, the mind is liberated from the Hearer and Solitary Realizer vehicles, and by the power of skillfully distinguishing dharmas, the limbs of arising in dhyana and formless samadhi, etc., are completely exhausted. These four are the aspects of suffering. Because of being separated from non-virtue, the body and mind are light and at ease; because of being skilled in the means of taming sentient beings, one enjoys desires without attachment; because of seeing the faults of objects, one constantly practices celibacy; because of the Dharma nature of the noble person, the necessities of life are completely pure. These four are the aspects of origin. Because of abiding in emptiness, one does not engage in conjunction and subsequent conjunction with the aggregates, elements, and realms. Therefore, the dwelling places of conjunction and subsequent conjunction are separately prohibited. Because of eliminating the unfavorable aspects, one can cut off the obstacles to realization.
