Not attaining is supreme. Understanding the distinction of all dharmas as unborn is not appearing to all. Such dharmas of the path that possess suchness, etc., generating non-objectification in the continuum of the yogi is to initiate. Because it accomplishes the great meaning, which is Buddhahood, it is the great meaning itself. After that, with what is held and abandoned, what is the cause of birth and non-birth of this that can be attained? Through the door of dispelling doubts, the second is the characteristic of being extremely pure. Relying on the Buddha and giving, etc., and being skilled in means, are the causes of faith in this. The causes of being deficient in Dharma are being oppressed by the density of demons, and not believing in the profound Dharma, and clinging to the manifestation of the aggregates, etc., and being completely seized by evil friends. Thus it is said, pleasing the Buddha and perfecting the perfections such as giving, and being skilled in calm abiding, are the causes of birth. Being harmed by demons and not believing in the profound Dharma and clinging to reality and associating with bad friends are the causes of non-birth. Having thus explained the causes of attainment and non-attainment, in general, the purity at hand, the pure result, form, etc., is purity itself, because of what? These two are not different, and because they are uninterrupted, they are called pure. Thus it is said, whatever is the result of the ascetic conduct of a noble person, whatever purity is free from all incompatible aspects of that, that itself, form, etc., is pure, the purity of result and form, etc., is the nature of being well distinguished by being free from the manifestation of clinging to the self of form, etc. Because the purity of those is not different and uninterrupted, and because the nature of self and general characteristics is not different, therefore it is said to be pure in that way. After explaining purity in general, now it is specifically, the three of afflictions, knowable, and path, because of decline, the purity of disciples, solitary realizers, and bodhisattvas is, Buddha

The saying "extremely pure" refers to the defilements such as desire, and the obscurations of knowledge related to them, the conceptualizations that grasp a single meaning, and the three obscurations of the path of the three vehicles. Therefore, it is the purity of the Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas, respectively. Because the obscurations of defilements and knowledge, along with their predispositions, are completely eliminated, the extremely pure, which arises from the Dharmadhatu, is considered to be the purity of the unsurpassed Buddha. In the context of understanding the path, purity is mentioned in passing. So, how are the purities of the Buddha and Hearers, etc., said to be "extremely" and "other" respectively? The scripture says: "The nine grounds are great, The great and so on are stains, The antidote is small of the small, The path of and so on is pure." This refers to the equipoise of the desire realm, meditative concentration, and the formless realm. In the nine grounds, for the nine kinds of opposing factors such as the great of the great, the nature of the antidote is, in order, the nine kinds such as the small of the small, completely and on the other hand, it is the cause of purity, therefore it is called purity "extremely" and "other." How is it "extremely"? The scripture says: "Because of eliminating disputes in that, The path is the measure and the measured, Because of equality, of the three realms, It is accepted as the nature of the antidote." This says that for the antidote, which is the great of the great, etc., the opposing factors are the small of the small, etc., such disputes should be made. Just as a washerman strives in the washing pool to remove the fine dirt that clings to clothes, the path of cultivation, as shown before, is "extremely" pure through the way of eliminating disputes. Because there is no attachment to the nature of the consciousness and the objects of the three realms, therefore, equality is the nature of all antidotes. Therefore, the purity of the Buddha is established as "extremely" pure. Commentary on the second chapter of the Abhisamayalankara, the Treatise on the Instructions of the Prajnaparamita. Commentary on the third chapter: Without completely knowing all the bases, one cannot well
