That which is called "not being attached to desire" means not being attached to things. That which is called "not being attached to what others say and what others discuss" means: Whatever the monks of the sects clearly say, "This is not the Buddha's teaching," that is what others say. Speaking secretly is what others discuss, not listening to those. That which is called "not following others' faith" means not being deceived by others in order to gain one's own confident faith. That which is called "causing to understand" is for the sake of understanding the scriptures and so on. That which is called "believing" is for the sake of focusing on the meaning. Similarly, in order to contemplate "Why is that?", the Blessed One spoke of "Subhuti, thus," etc., intending to explain that it will not become fearless, etc., because it will not generate habits in other lifetimes. Fearlessness, etc., is an explanation of cultivating the manner of knowing the path itself. Revealing the nature of the object of focus is when the Blessed One asked, "Blessed One, what Bodhisattva Mahasattva," etc., and "In what way?" refers to the way of grasping. That which is called "discriminatingly examining" means definitely examining. That which is called "focusing on all-knowingness" means that the mind stream focuses on the ultimate of the three all-knowingnesses. This explains the cultivation of the three all-knowingnesses. Being skilled in definitely examining the stream of one's own nature of definite knowledge is when the Blessed One asked, "Blessed One, how?" etc. In the stages of preparation, main practice, and conclusion, the preliminary mind stream of cultivating all phenomena as illusion-like is the discriminating examination of the mind stream that focuses on all-knowingness. As it is said, these are the three sentences, "Subhuti, focusing on space," etc. That which is called "this is discriminating examination" refers to the concluding words of definitely and correctly discriminatingly examining the stream as previously stated. In order to welcome the doubt of "This is not reasonable," it is welcomed with "Subhuti, why is that?", that is, "Subhuti, all-knowingness is," etc.

The word "etc." was spoken. Because in that Suchness, it has already transcended measure and what is measured, therefore, all omniscience is immeasurable and without measure. Therefore, practicing like an illusion will surely lead to a definite continuum, which is the word of correct discrimination. Otherwise, if there are things to be measured, etc., one will cling to reality, which is the meaning of the words. In order to clarify that meaning, it is said, "Subhuti, immeasurable," etc. Among them, attainment refers to the nature of morality, etc., of ordinary beings, which is the path of accumulation. Manifest realization refers to the nature corresponding to the decisive part after perfectly accumulating the accumulation, which is the path of preparation. Understanding refers to the aspect of individually realizing the all-pervading realm of phenomena, which is the path of seeing. The path refers to the worldly path of meditation that focuses on worldly meditation and the formless. The fruit of the path refers to the nature of knowing the truth of suffering, etc., which is the transcendental path of meditation. Wisdom refers to the path of the smallest nature that eliminates great afflictions, etc. Consciousness refers to the path of the middle nature that destroys medium-sized great afflictions, etc. Birth refers to the path of the great nature that produces small afflictions, etc. Destruction refers to the path of application of the middle means of eliminating afflictions on the path of meditation. Arising refers to the path of liberation without interruption that eliminates afflictions and attains liberation. Decline refers to the path of liberation that reveals wisdom that is free from afflictions. Cessation, some say, is the remaining aspect of afflictions, which is the nature of the path of application, the path of no interruption, and the path of liberation, which is a special path. Others say that the special path that manifests excellent qualities is cessation. Meditation refers to the vajra that destroys all indestructible obscurations.
