That's it. The term "investigation" means to definitely examine. The term "it is not so" means that one cannot infer the color and shape of an elephant from its footprints, hence the saying "it is not so." To illustrate that focusing on something can lead to failure, it is said, "Subhuti, for example, a person seeking jewels," and so on. The term "not examining" means not understanding the measure. The term "that is not" means that striving for jewels but getting lost in the great ocean means not being wise. The term "abiding correctly within" refers to taking the body and so on as examples. The phrase "in this very life" and so on means that in this present life, without creating causes for future rebirths, one should eliminate mental afflictions and pass into nirvana like a candle. To the doubt of "how to avert engaging in preventing the birth, which is the source of all harm," it is answered with "why cling," and it is said, "Subhuti, bodhisattva mahasattva," and so on. The term "having truly entered the Great Vehicle" means that merely by entering the Great Vehicle, those who have donned armor to benefit beings, although they may be reborn through the power of skillful means, are said to be without harm. The term "content with little" means being satisfied with just that much. Because gain and respect are themselves bonds, to the necessity of "how many such people there are," it is answered with "those noble beings," and so on. It is also said here: If one clings to the view of self, afflictions will increase, so gain and respect are bonds. However, when one satisfies others with generosity and so on, and like a lotus, is not attached to it, and is able to steer, thereby benefiting the world, then there is no fault. The first chapter. What shows the loss of the connection between cause and effect is: it is said, "Subhuti, if someone," and so on. To clearly illustrate this very point, it is said, "Subhuti, for example," and so on, like a carpenter.

English

That which is called "Na" refers to a carpenter. The term "carpenter's apprentice" refers to an apprentice who resides with the carpenter. The term "the measure of the Excellent Mansion" refers to the city called "Delightful" in the center of the summit of Mount Meru, the king of mountains, which is made of gold. Each side of that city is two thousand five hundred yojanas in length, and its height is one and a half yojanas. In the center of that city is the Excellent Mansion of Indra, each side of which is two hundred and fifty yojanas in length. How is its height adorned? It is the Excellent Mansion. The two terms "wants to do, wants to accomplish" are used to illustrate the distinction between a long time and a short time. The term "that is not" refers to the fact that the palaces of the moon and sun are, in any case, fifty and fifty-one yojanas in measure. The Excellent Mansion is greater than that measure, so it does not indicate that the cause and effect are inconsistent, but rather this is the meaning. Where there is no loss, the indication of decline is: Subhuti, as in the case of a certain person, etc. Among these, color is yellow, etc. Shape is long, etc. Splendor is the perfection of names, etc. Miraculous power is going in the sky, etc. A sign is a unique sign of a thing. The term "unable to distinguish the difference" refers to the fact that because one only focuses on the similarity of color, etc., it is a confusion of mind. The Hearer Vehicle is also for the purpose of showing that the Thus-Gone One can attain compassion, etc. If so, why does he not seek all-knowingness? Such a question. Beginning with "Why is that?" and saying that in other sutras, etc., because not all aspects are shown, even if they are shown, they are not clear, this is the meaning. The loss from the three bodies emanated from the perfection of Dharma and enjoyment is shown in order by the examples of the wheel-turning king, the hundred-flavored food, and the priceless jewel. Showing the courage to generate discrimination towards many objects is: Subhuti, furthermore

Thus and so on were spoken. In order to show the four faults, the Blessed One spoke of the Prajñāpāramitā and so on. The so-called "that is not" refers to the belief in inherent existence, because wisdom is like an illusion. The so-called "thinking while writing" refers to attachment to letters.
