With a single-minded compassion, one should completely sever association with the realm of suffering and the divisions within it. Improper conduct, such as initial interactions, will lead to decline and destruction. Therefore, defaming the sacred Dharma should be avoided, for that is its meaning. What constitutes defaming the Dharma? As stated by Shariputra, "What are..." etc. If there is a definite measure, why is it not spoken? If such a doubt arises, it is met with "Why?" As it is said, the measure of the bodies of such beings, etc. Because hearing the measure of the bodies in the great hells, one understands the immensity of the suffering, and thus, with great fear, one engages in antidotes, etc., and in opposition to that, one separates from them, vomiting warm blood, etc. Therefore, the measure is not shown, which is the general meaning. Even mere death is unbearable suffering, and being touched by illness, etc., is spoken of in three phrases, distinguishing between small, medium, and large. In future lives, the application to many beings will become apparent, which is the Dharma's appearance of causing those who perform unwholesome deeds to become disgusted. Disgust is the cause of that, hence it is said as such. The actions of body, speech, and mind should be diligently guarded. In order, relying on mindfulness and awareness, one should practice the virtuous actions of body, speech, and mind. If one acts in reverse, what faults are there? If such a doubt arises, it is met with "Why?" Thus, the Blessed One is proclaimed. "Thus" means that it is not the word of the Buddha, but rather its own nature. This is merely a primary indication, and one should also understand the inversions of body and mind. To gather the faults spoken in the immediately preceding words, the Blessed One "What" etc. is spoken. Otherwise, having just spoken, how would one inquire? Thinking of it as defamation, that is, with mutually contradictory words. Thinking of it as disparagement, that is, the previous...

It is the same. To think of refuting is because it contradicts direct perception and other valid cognitions. The so-called foolish person is because: 'Entering oneself and, one's own discipline, appearing because of and, profound because of and vast because of, there is no contradiction with the Dharma nature.' As it is said, regarding the nature spoken by the Buddha, whatever enters the Sutra Pitaka and, appears in the Vinaya Pitaka and, does not contradict the Dharma nature, but does not understand that, because the Sutra Pitaka etc. truly hold, but does not definitely hold the nature of the Mother of the Conquerors, therefore it is foolish. If one thinks like this, because the Sutra Pitaka of the sectarian treatises does not enter into a small part and, likewise, because it is seen in the Vinaya Pitaka where the quantity is completely cut off and, likewise, because it is established in the Dharma nature such as the selflessness of the individual and, because it is not in accordance, the Great Vehicle is not the word of the Buddha, so it is not foolish to abandon it. If that is the case, then even the scattered Sutra Pitakas are not spoken in the Sutra Pitaka collections, so it should be acknowledged that they are not the words of the Buddha. Likewise, in each Sutra Pitaka collection, the other categories of the Sutra Pitaka collection do not all enter. Likewise, in each Vinaya Pitaka collection, all the aspects of the other Vinaya Pitaka collections do not appear. Likewise, whatever is established as the Dharma nature of each school does not correspond to the Dharma nature of all the other schools. Thus, how can the Sutra Pitaka, the Vinaya Pitaka, and the Abhidhamma Pitaka, which are divided by the eighteen schools, and whose respective treatises and meanings are different from each other, be established as the words of the Buddha? Therefore, this claims that the non-pervasive is the nature of the Buddha's words, so it is foolish. Also, or the fault of the mind is thick in nature, if one does not recognize even the image of ignorance, then what need is there to speak of the Dharma of doubt? Therefore, put it in equanimity, there is no good or bad. Because one does not understand this meaning, one is called a foolish person. The so-called thinking of refuting is because of saying mutually contradictory things. The so-called thinking of abandoning is the same as the former. The so-called thinking of refuting etc. is because it contradicts direct perception and other valid cognitions.
