Now, the term 'threefold complete purification' is explained. Therefore, it is said that the Śrāvakas abandon the obscuration of afflictions, and the Pratyekabuddhas abandon the afflictions and the conceptualizations that grasp one side of the obscuration of knowledge, thus the omniscient wisdom is completely pure. The Bodhisattvas abandon the obscurations of the path of the three vehicles, thus the knowledge of the path is completely pure. The Tathāgatas, having completely abandoned the afflictions and the obscurations of knowledge along with their habitual tendencies, are completely pure, arising from the Dharmadhātu, thus the all-knowing wisdom is completely pure, so it is said. It is also said: Because of the faults of the three, afflictions, knowledge, and path, the Śrāvakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas are impure, while the Buddhas are completely pure. This is what is said. In the context of the knowledge of the path, in the midst of explaining purification, the purification of the Tathāgatas and the Śrāvakas, in order, one is extremely pure, and the other is pure, how is that? Then, the Blessed One, the venerable Śāriputra, and so on, said this. The nine words spoken by the noble Śāriputra, such as 'profound,' 'making clear,' 'making manifest,' 'without interruption,' 'without all afflictions,' 'without attainment,' 'without realization,' 'without accomplishment,' 'without extreme arising,' should be expressed in order as the nature of the nine paths of meditation, such as 'smaller than the small.' For each word, the Blessed One said, 'because of purification,' it should be combined with abandoning the nine opposing aspects, such as 'greater than the great.' Because it is said 'in the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm,' the nine grounds of the desire realm and so on should be taken as the path of meditation. If it is said that whatever in the desire realm or the peak of existence abandons the limbs of the path to enlightenment, that is because of unskillful means, it is in terms of the Śrāvakas, therefore there is no contradiction between this and that, some say. Others say that there is nothing that cannot be accomplished.

Starting from the place of abiding, the nine grounds up to the limit of the realm of nothingness are explained as the path of meditation. Mentioning the desire realm and so on is to emphasize that the Mother, the ultimate reality, does not truly exist there, not to explain the nine grounds. The summarized meaning of this is: As mentioned before, on the nine grounds, either individually or sequentially, as an antidote to the inconsistent aspects, such as the great of the great, etc., nine kinds of antidotes arise sequentially as the nature of the path, such as the small of the small, etc., nine kinds of paths arise, because it is all aspects, and on the other hand, it is the cause of purification, so it is called very pure and the other. It is also said: On the nine grounds, there is the great of the great, the antidote to the defilements such as the great, the path of the small of the small, etc., is pure. If so, how is it the extremely pure that has not been established? "Supplication to the Bhagavan" and so on are mentioned. "Unattained" refers to one's own nature. "Not truly attained" refers to differentiation. "Because of purity" means because it is the antidote to the three realms. "What" refers to asking which realm this belongs to, not abandonment. "That is, not knowing form" and so on are said. If the doubt arises, why is form not known when it is permanent? Welcoming with "Why?", it is said, "Shariputra, because of purity," because it is indeed the nature of non-existence. Isn't the aspect of the antidote the great of the great, etc., and the inconsistent aspect the small of the small, etc.? If so, why is it shown as other? In response to this thought, "Bhagavan, Prajnaparamita is in all-knowingness" and so on are mentioned. "Does not harm" means that it does not eliminate the true existence of the Dharma. "Does not benefit" means that it does not create what was not there before, combining it with the previous one. "Does not completely grasp any Dharma" is the aspect of the antidote. "Does not completely abandon" is the inconsistent aspect.
