It should be said, add the phrase " कौशिका(梵文天城体,kauśika, कौशिका,Kausika) listen." The teacher Vasubandhu said, "Listen well," meaning that just as the gods send down rain, but for a vessel turned upside down, nothing can enter. Similarly, you look down and do not understand in your heart, so do not listen. Saying "extremely well" means that just as an unclean vessel holds water, all the water it holds becomes unclean and useless. Similarly, you listen with a reversed understanding and make it unclean, so do not listen. Saying "keep it in mind" means that just as a clean but leaky vessel holds water, the water cannot stay even if it enters. Similarly, you do not understand firmly, do not listen, and be sure to understand very clearly, making your mind firm, so that listening will have results. This is how it is said. Aryadeva said that listening with a fair attitude and a pursuit of truth is saying "good" and "extremely good" in order. Similarly, because one is good at distinguishing, one must understand, which is saying "keep it in mind," which explains the characteristics of the listener, this is how it is explained. I say that I will tell you, it is to tell you for the sake of benefiting you. That is the meaning. How do you explain it? It is said "how" etc., that is, in what way should one abide in and practice the nature of the path of the Shravakas for the Prajnaparamita. After making this promise, now it is said " कौशिका(梵文天城体,kauśika, कौशिका,Kausika)" etc., of which "for emptiness" means that one is not attached to the aspects related to the Four Noble Truths such as suffering. Although it has been generally stated, understanding it in particular is because it follows the oral instructions of previous teachers, so do not hesitate here. Its summarized meaning is: for it, in terms of the nature of arising and ceasing, it is impermanent. Defiled things, in terms of inconsistency, are suffering. If you do this, then...

The worldly path is also impermanent, but because it is without outflows, it is not contradictory to the noble ones, therefore it will not become the nature of suffering. Because it is the emptiness of self and others, it is selflessness. Because oneself is not self, it is peace, this is called the aspect of the truth of suffering. Like the seed of a fruit, because it is the root of the cause, it is a disease. Because it is the arising of suffering, it is a fruit. Because it is the cause of suffering, it is a thorn. Because suffering arises continuously, it is the sin of complete destruction, this is called the aspect of the truth of the origin. Because it is an outward counterattack, it is the opposite. Because the object of the counterattack is the nature of complete destruction, it is the nature of destruction, this is called the aspect of aversion arising separately towards suffering and the origin. Because there is no abiding in one's own nature, it is wavering. Because it does not depend on cause, and is destroyed by its own nature, it is complete destruction, this is called the aspect of detachment towards each of them. Because it becomes a place of harm for oneself and others, it is destruction. Because harm from rakshasas and others can take advantage, it is an infectious disease. Because the disturbance of the four great elements and the falling of hail and so on become a place of harm, it is near to harm, this is called the aspect of cessation towards each of them. If this is done, then the noble hearers will arise with aversion, detachment, and enter for the sake of cessation, this will be an explanation of the meaning of the scriptures. Because of being free from afflictions, it is selflessness. Because suffering is completely pacified, it is peace. Because it is an object of happiness and purity, it is solitude. Because it is an object of permanence and benefit, it is emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, and non-effort. This is called the aspect of the truth of cessation. Because it obtains the city of Nirvana, it is the path. All afflictions

Because it is a collection of antidotes that eliminate obstacles, it is wisdom itself. Because it accomplishes the meaning of the mind's non-perversion, it is accomplishment itself. Because there is no manifest attachment, it goes to the realm of permanence, therefore it is definitely liberation itself, which is called the aspect of the truth of the path. Thus, through these stages, in the Mahayana, some are shown through names, and some are shown through their own nature, so it will not become the fault of the Hearer's path. Therefore, when knowing the path, the Bodhisattva does not contemplate the nature of these phenomena related to the Noble Truths, so that the Hearer's path can be known. The meaning of this summary is clearly explained in the Twenty-five Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, so do not misunderstand it. As it is said: In the manner of knowing the path, the four noble truths, the aspects are not contemplated, this Hearer's path should be known. Having explained the Hearer's path in this way, in order to explain the meaning of the heat stage, it is said, " कौशिका Kaushika, therefore," and so on. Because completely knowing the Four Truths corresponds to the decisive part and is preceded by realization, the Bodhisattva, in order to realize the heat stage, meditates on the nature of form as emptiness, and so on for feelings. What is the nature of form, and what is the emptiness of feelings, etc.? These two are non-dual and inseparable. This meaning is also indicated by "putting on great armor." That is, in the Intermediate Mother Sutra, it is said: "How does a Bodhisattva put on great armor? Subhuti, this is when a Bodhisattva realizes that all phenomena of emptiness are without difference." As it is said: In the Noble Hearer's path, because the aggregates such as form are emptiness, the emptiness of all phenomena is without difference, it is the heat stage. In order to show the peak stage, it is said, "Do not abide in form," etc., meaning in the manner of the object of focus. Do not abide in the eye.
