It is said, "The Perfection of Wisdom," and so on. The term "desire, etc." includes hatred, etc. The term "between" includes all that pertains to mindfulness, such as attachment to manifestation. "Holding to Nirvana itself" refers to attachment to Nirvana with remainder and without remainder. When the manifestation of attachment to Nirvana, etc., is eradicated from its roots, it is brought to peace. Because the imprints of desire, etc., are completely destroyed, they do not increase. It is said that by meditating on the Perfection of Wisdom alone, one can eliminate desire, etc., and attachment to Nirvana. Thus, by focusing on all phenomena, one will give rise to the acceptance of the knowledge of phenomena on the path. To show the aspect of the second moment of the path, it is said, "Kaushika, the four great kings," and so on. It has already been explained that they protect, save, and conceal. Alternatively, understand that protecting, saving, and concealing, in that order, are done by empowering the intervals between what is made by gods, what is transformed from the elements, and what is of an inner nature. Alternatively, there are three kinds of abandonment: what arises from one's own causes, what arises from the causes of being counted as another sentient being, and what arises from the causes of not being counted as another sentient being. By eliminating these, understand that protecting, saving, and concealing are done in that order. It is said that when one engages in holding the Perfection of Wisdom, the Tathagatas, etc., will protect, save, and conceal in every way. Thus, if one focuses on all phenomena with the Perfection of Wisdom, one will give rise to the knowledge of phenomena on the path. To show the aspect of the third moment of the path, it is said, "Kaushika, furthermore," and so on. "Becoming worthy of holding words" means that one precedes others by refraining from killing, etc., out of compassion for oneself, and by abiding in omniscience, in order to establish others in it, and for those who abide themselves.

Because praising and rejoicing make one happy, speech is worthy of being accepted. It should be understood that this is the meaning, otherwise speech cannot be accepted. In the Twenty-Five Thousand Verse it is also said, starting from "I will also abandon killing," praising and rejoicing with others also makes them happy, in which case speech is worthy of being accepted. And so on, it is explained until the end. The so-called "speech becomes gentle" is because it is comfortable to listen to. The so-called "speech becomes moderate" is because it speaks only to the extent that it conveys meaning. The so-called "speech becomes without confusion" is because it is skilled in speaking concisely. The so-called "will not be overwhelmed by anger, nor will be overwhelmed by pride" is because, with the cause of harm nearby, being tormented by the coarse mind of anger is anger. The pride of mind based on the view of the perishable aggregate is pride. If there is no antidote, will one not be separated from faults? Why would such qualities arise? When such doubts arise, they are greeted with "like this," and then "like this" and so on are said. The Perfection of Wisdom itself is the antidote to all faults, and it is also cultivated through it. The so-called "completely tamed" is for establishing the abandonment of killing and so on. The so-called "completely subdued" is because sentient beings are completely subdued by moderate speech and so on. The so-called "bearing grudges" is not abandoning the habit of hating enemies, the part of hatred itself is bearing grudges. The so-called "harmful intent" is tormenting beings and suffering and the dharmas that have become the cause of suffering, this is harmful intent. The so-called "habit" is the part of hatred, the continuation of the mind that regards the enemy as an enemy is the habit. In this way, because of the power of being completely grasped by the Perfection of Wisdom, wanting to attain enlightenment, one first abandons killing and so on oneself.

Because of going to this, abiding in the omniscience, one should also cause other beings to abide in this. Thus, if one focuses on all dharmas, the forbearance of following the path will arise, as it is said. In order to show the aspect of the fourth moment of the path, it is said, "Son of a lineage" or "Daughter of a lineage," etc. To act in this way means to abide in the following knowledge of the path. "Mindfulness" means that the mind does not forget the objects of familiarity. "Loving-kindness" means without hatred, cherishing all sentient beings as if they were one's only child. By these, all roots of virtue, such as generosity, are made common with all sentient beings in a non-objective way, and should be dedicated to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, hence both are mentioned. The activity of loving-kindness is to think in this way, as it is said. "The senses are disturbed" means that because of the pervasive practice of harmful thoughts, changes in the eyes, etc., arise. "Even the complexion changes" means that one's own nature changes and becomes angry. "To be under the power of anger" means that it is a fault of it. Thus, by performing generosity and other inexhaustible deeds, with the power of mindfulness and so on, one should dedicate to perfect and complete enlightenment. Thus, if one focuses on all dharmas, the following knowledge of the path will arise, as it is said. The aspects that have been explained in this way, when shown with other words, will give rise to sixteen moments, one should not doubt this. It is also said: Suchness and the Buddhas, because they are mutually dependent and independent, do not accept various names, and great and measurable, immeasurable, immeasurable and infinite, on the form, etc., abiding therein, definitely grasping them as the nature of the Buddha, etc., without acceptance or rejection, etc., loving-kindness, etc., and emptiness, etc., obtaining the nature of the Buddha and purity, completely gathering all qualities, fear and eliminating all diseases, grasping nirvana, the nature of peace, protected by the Buddhas, etc., not killing, etc., all-knowing.
