Furthermore, one prays with 'also the all-knowing nature,' and so forth. For the sake of brevity, one prays with 'Bhagavan, my,' and so forth. 'Whoever' refers to the one who attains, the Bodhisattva. 'By what' refers to the means of attainment. 'To what' refers to the connection, the characteristic of all-knowingness. Since the word 'what' indicates abandonment, the summary is 'not what, not by what, not to what.' Why is that? Because one prays with 'because the Bhagavan Buddha,' and so forth. Here, what is to be attained is expressed by the word 'Buddha,' because the other two words related to the attainer indicate, because whatever is relevant to 'what' is briefly summarized. If one thinks that by combining the sounds of things as they are, merely having a name can become true meaning, then one prays with 'that name also,' and so forth, because it has not been seen before. In the manner of 'the difference between sound and meaning, what is said and what is said, is not intended, the commonality is briefly shown,' that name does not manifestly exist as things are, therefore it is unborn. How is it? One prays with 'how I,' and so forth. Explaining that itself is 'I extremely,' and so forth, because there is no power of meaningful action, like the horn of a donkey, it is not manifestly established even in true conventionality, therefore, although I am extremely non-existent, even so, the term 'I' is applied. If that is the case, if all phenomena are without inherent existence according to reason, then when contemplating what form is, one speaks of 'that which is not grasped,' and so forth, because it is not manifestly established, therefore it is only free from grasping and being grasped. Therefore, form and so forth, when unexamined in conventionality, are pleasing when alone. If it is not established as an object of grasping and being grasped, then is it the ultimate truth? One speaks of 'that way,' and so forth, by reason, whatever all phenomena are without substance, that itself is not manifestly established, and whatever is not manifestly established is free from holding its own characteristic, therefore that is not Dharma.

Etc. In order to conclude the meaning of thorough practice, therefore, "Prajnaparamita" and so on are mentioned. Therefore, this "therefore" means "because of this." The sound of "what" is a negative term because it is an expression of abandonment. If so, are the dharmas manifestly established? Then, "Bhagavan" and so on are requested, because it is a thorough negation of the manifest establishment of all things. Other than the unmanifestly established, there is no other manifestly established dharma that can be pointed out. All dharmas are the nature of the path of Prajnaparamita. The Buddha's dharma is the characteristics to be attained. The bodhisattva's dharma is the reason why the attainer is named a bodhisattva, namely form, etc. If it is said that "whatever practices in bodhi is invisible," then the general dharma of practicing for the sake of bodhi, whatever it may be, is also invisible. Combine "distinction" with "transformation." If so, then who will strive to practice Prajnaparamita? Then "if so" and so on are mentioned. Practice refers to the wisdom of abiding. Meditation refers to the wisdom of abiding. Approaching contemplation is to distinguish and establish with wisdom. Determination is to establish on the wisdom of mindfulness. If form, etc., are invisible, then how to approach contemplating Prajnaparamita? To dispel this doubt, "what is the reason for that?" is used to greet, and then "Bhagavan, at what time" and so on are requested. Because at what time, these dharmas of form, etc., exist in Prajnaparamita, because of that reason, when the form of selflessness is fully realized, then form will not be approached for contemplation, that is, it will not be cognized. Precisely because of this, it will not be approached for grasping, that is, it will not be taken as one's own, because birth or death will not be truly and repeatedly seen. Because there is nothing else other than birth and death, this is what is thought. If self-nature is one, then the appearance of no birth and no death is merely the appearance of form.
