My union of compassion, and these two are not different from each other, transcending the aspects of incompatibility and definite circumstances, being extremely accustomed to the union of the opposing side, and being mastered by the realized ones. In any case, what will definitely occur from above to above, what does this refer to? Like this, the six questions that show and so on, are the teachings of the noble liberated section. In order to show the collection of skillful means and so on, the answer to the first question is: Subhuti! The so-called Mahayana and so on, are spoken like this. As the Lankavatara Sutra says: Five dharmas and self-nature, eight consciousnesses and two selflessnesses, all Mahayana are included in this. Although it is said like this, in the context of the collection, with the power of the collection of skillful means and so on, for the immeasurable, the term Mahayana is mainly established. Furthermore, how is the collection of skillful means and so on immeasurable? This is because there is no measure and so on that is spoken. As the things themselves that are spoken, because they are not completely determined by direct perception and other measures, they cannot be measured. Showing like this, having the collection of the path of union, because it has the mind that is completely in accordance with all-knowingness, therefore in order to benefit sentient beings, it is the collection of skillful means. Knowing the collection of skillful means is learning wisdom, therefore it is the collection of wisdom. This also needs to be known as twenty kinds by the difference of inner emptiness and so on. Among them, the twenty kinds of emptiness are like this: For example, the nature of internal objects, eyes and so on, because they are truly existent and not destroyed, therefore it is inner emptiness. The nature of external forms and so on is also like that, therefore it is outer emptiness. The sources of inner and outer nature, because the nature is like that, therefore it is inner-outer emptiness. Among them, the internal sources refer to those that are grasped by the nature of the senses. The external refers to those that are grasped by the nature of the objects. The inner-outer refers to those that are grasped by the support of the senses.

It is so. That which is grasped by the mind is internal, and that which is not gathered by the senses is also external. These three emptinesses are on the ground of practice with faith. Because all dharmas are emptiness, the emptiness of the nature of wisdom that focuses on inner emptiness and so on is also emptiness, therefore emptiness is emptiness. Just knowing that all dharmas are emptiness, all dharmas are emptiness, and thus emptiness is also emptiness, because it eliminates the conceptual thought that clings to it. This is on the path of joining. The ten directions are great emptiness because they are empty of directions, because they are large in shape. This is in the first bhumi, in the sense of all-pervading. Ultimate nirvana is ultimate emptiness because it is empty of the nature of the meaning of nirvana, because it is merely separation. This is in the second bhumi, in the sense of supreme meaning. Conditioned three realms are conditioned emptiness because they are empty of the desire realm and so on, because it is the nature of being completely unaccomplished, because it is able to act as an antidote. This is in the third bhumi, in the supreme meaning of the same cause. The unconditioned, unborn, unceasing, unstaying, and unchanging is unconditioned emptiness because it is empty of itself, because there is no birth and so on due to the incompatible category of the cause of imputation of unborn and so on. This is in the fourth bhumi, in the sense of non-apprehension. The edge is emptiness of the edge, therefore, because it transcends the edge, it is the emptiness of transcending the edge. The edge is a part, and in the middle of the two edges of annihilation and permanence, by what cause that cuts off those parts, is established as its nature, there is nothing. This is in the fifth bhumi, in the sense of no different cause. Because the beginning, middle, and end are empty of them, the absence of beginning and end is born after the nature of emptiness and so on, the edge is extremely non-existent.
