It is said that "not seeking" etc. Regarding "gathering and placing," establishing is gathering, and refuting is placing. Apart from establishing and refuting, other terms arising from sound, in the manner of "not existing," everything is summarized by just two words, therefore it is said here in this way. Thus, in reality, forms etc. that have the distinction of being separate from gathering and placing are called objects of focus. In what way do they become objects of focus? It is said that "however" etc., the name of the object of focus is also not abiding in a constant manner. Because there is no one to be refuted, therefore, in truth, it is clear without obstruction. For one without an object, the combination of refutation does not exist. Even if relying on conceptualization, it becomes conventional, not real. In the manner of "not being," it is also not non-abiding. Because of the difference in continuity, it is also not abiding and non-abiding. Thus, it is not abiding and non-abiding. If it is named as a conventional appearance, then how can it be reasonable for it to be different from continuity? In order to dispel this doubt, it is said, "What is the reason for that?" Regarding "because there is no that name" etc., in reality, it is the remainder, meaning that there is no fault in the conventional. In order to closely summarize, it is said, "Therefore, that person" etc. Thus, from the perspective of the nature of phenomena, continuity and the reality of being different from it and being separate are aspects, so it is said. The meaning of the great object of focus is declared, namely "if" etc. "Profound" refers to the nature of being merely named, the depth of which cannot be fathomed by other non-Buddhists and those in one's own sect who are afraid because of being without support. Thus, having the distinction of being merely named, the truths of suffering etc. are objects of focus, so it is said. In what way do they become objects of focus? It is said that "with superior intention" etc., with superior intention, one believes and focuses on that naming, that is, it cannot be spoken of in relation to any dharma such as virtue. Wide and vast, joyful, with great need and diligence, excellent and superior.
