Like yava, etc., because they are extremely hidden, not only are they not considered to be objects to be observed as knowable objects, but also for the nature of eliminating clinging, etc., whatever nature is observed by the wisdom that enables one to attain enlightenment, one should not be arrogant, that is, do not cling. From the perspective of Dharma-nature, it is also understood through aspects such as non-clinging. Thus, etc., is according to the way previously explained. Here it is said that when Sravakas observe objects with characteristics such as changeability, because it is an antidote to self-grasping, it is those aspects, etc. When Bodhisattvas observe objects with characteristics such as impermanence, because it is an antidote to Dharma-grasping, it is aspects such as non-clinging, so it is said. If the object of clinging does not exist, then because it does not exist, it should not be an antidote. If it is not clinging, then the eyes, etc., should also be clinging, and this needs to be refuted. Just as it is a non-contradictory aspect, so it is clinging; just as it is an antidote aspect, so it is non-clinging. Also, how is it a non-contradictory aspect? Like the grasping of existence and non-existence caused by untrue discrimination. How is it an antidote aspect? In any case, those do not exist. Also, how is it that those do not exist? If one knows that those two do not exist in the ultimate truth. Like this, Venerable Sariputra, if the mind does not exist, for that, etc., will be explained immediately. How could those with understanding of all aspects such as non-clinging think it is not reasonable? In order to explain how it is non-clinging, it is said, "Why cling to that?" that is, what is the reason. Or, what is clinging, what is the cause of this meaning, that is, what is needed. In order to answer, it is said, "Thus," etc.

Because the nature of mind is free from the nature of one and many, the nature of mind is inherently unborn and luminous, dispelling all the darkness of nonexistent pervasive thoughts. Therefore, the mind that is inseparable from aspects such as non-apprehension is not truly a mind. Thinking, 'Since the mind is without inherent existence, how can aspects such as non-apprehension, which are inseparable from it, become the place of non-apprehension in reality?' This negation called 'non-mind' can be applied to 'non-existence' or 'absence.' Because it is related to merely clinging to existence and non-existence, seeing the inverted without return, it is said, 'What mind, which mind without mind, exists?' That is, what is said is applied to 'What non-mind exists?'—the mind that is inseparable from aspects such as non-apprehension is truly without mind. Since, according to reason, things themselves are nonexistent, it is not a negation for non-existence. However, it exists for non-existence, and even for that, the imputation of merely existence and non-existence is also nonexistent. With this thought, Subhuti, wanting to make himself answer, then spoke in the manner of asking again, 'Shariputra, what do you think?' etc. That is, merely the essence of non-mind is non-mind, and because it is its essence, what is non-mindness? Does the existence of that non-mind, which has not become the characteristic of an object, exist? Or does it become an object, having become the characteristic of an object? Likewise, it should also be applied to non-existence. The word 'or' should be understood as the former depending on the latter, and the latter depending on the former. For the unborn essence, permanence and annihilation are both irrelevant. Discriminating the distinctions of phenomena is discriminating on the essence. Just as no one can write letters etc. in the sky, so likewise, for things that are unborn, discrimination as phenomena is the same. Possessing this thought, he said, 'That does not exist,' which is the two just mentioned. Now, using his own words as an answer, he said:

O venerable Śāriputra, having mentioned "if" and so on. What is refutation, and what will it become? Refutation is opposition. The expression "what will it become?" is to reject and prevent, it is an impermissible word. That is, the venerable Śāriputra said "thus it is said" and so on. Like this, for the one without mind, is there existence or non-existence? If it does not exist and is not visible, how do you think that mind exists? It is appropriate to refute in this way. For that, why is it said to be without mind? It is thought to be merely without mind. Therefore, it is not appropriate to assert that it exists in the nature of things and non-things, that is what is thought. If the dharma is without mind, because there is no application of negation for the objectless, therefore the mindlessness also does not exist, saying that is, venerable Subhūti, what is that very mindlessness? In the context of true conventionalities, Without that, climbing onto the house, Is not suitable for the skilled ones, In order to answer the yogi's conventional truth with this verse, the venerable Śāriputra said "that mindlessness is unchanging" and so on. This very mindlessness, when passed from one to another and becomes familiar, in the state of becoming a Buddha, because it is the unchanging cause of the perfectly established, therefore it is unchanging. Because it is also the non-inverted cause of the perfectly established, therefore it is non-conceptual. Even so, it is said without contradicting the dharma of realization, that is "afterwards" and so on. "How" means in what way. The word "again" is a word that shows offering. "Without affliction" means, by the power of which samādhi, for the mindstream of other beings, the afflictions that produce sound with the meaning of suffering for oneself and others do not arise, that is the samādhi without affliction. As said among those who abide in this samādhi as the most excellent, because it shows the very mindlessness, therefore the word "because" is transformed and connected. "Good, good" is said twice because of amazement. If
