If it is said that self-nature and other-nature, as well as causelessness and non-sentient beings, are all non-existent, then what is meant by "sound combining with things as they are"? This is what they say. Others explain it in a different way, saying that if it is conventionally established for the sake of the meaning of terms, then it is not. Because the general characteristic of terms is that they are without substance, so if it is said to be their own characteristic, then it is not. Therefore, for the self-characteristic that is conventionally established, it is not a term, because at that time, there is no subsequent combination associated with it. Therefore, the essence of sound is not defiled by the impurity of concepts, so it is pure from the beginning. For those who use terms, it is also not conventionally established, because it has not been seen before. Therefore, similarly, because it is defiled by faults, it is completely pure from the beginning. Therefore, since it is impossible for sound to combine with things as they are in the sense of terms, they say that the autonomy of wanting to speak is not established. Others say that if that is the case, then only the object to be expressed itself is negated, but not the self-nature of things. Therefore, since it does not possess the characteristics of being enumerated in the mundane world, etc., it is called "showing sentient beings beyond limits." The thought of the Hundred Acts is said in this way, and they think it should be said. The meaning of the phrase "also by this name" is not only the single form of sentient beings transcending limits as previously stated. In order to ascertain that there are other forms, concluding words are spoken, such as "Kaushika, it is also so." The word "also" is used for certainty. Infinite sentient beings negate the form of dependent origination by the second means. The Blessed One said that the Dharma taught by the Buddha is not without result, such as "From then on, the gods with senses," and so on. Brahma is the ruler of the Sahā world. The Lord of Beings is the protector of the world. The sages are the previous assemblies, spiritual friends, and so on. As it is said, when the selflessness of the grasper and the grasped is understood through the teachings, due to the special statement, it is a special statement, that is, being delighted by understanding.
