The sixteen moments should be explained. It is also said thus: The sixteen moments of forbearance and knowledge are of the path of seeing, and should be known as the characteristics of a non-regressing Bodhisattva. Thus it is said. Among them, since it turns away from the realization of phenomena such as form, it is taught that the forbearance of knowing the Dharma of suffering is yoga, etc. Since it does not generate differences in abiding, it does not manifestly accumulate. Since it does not do what has not happened before, it does not arise. As before, why is that? By welcoming the doubt with "because," "thus," etc. are spoken. "Empty by its own nature" means that since the realization of phenomena such as emptiness of nature and emptiness of Dharma nature is not closely observed, the Bodhisattva is without fault, and enters into and realizes the forbearance of knowing the Dharma of suffering. That Dharma is also not closely observed, because it does not manifestly accumulate and does not arise, hence it is a concluding word. Obtaining forbearance of the unborn Dharma means obtaining the forbearance as shown. Since the mind of unsurpassed enlightenment is shown, therefore knowing the Dharma of suffering is, Subhuti, yoga, etc. are spoken. In order to show that it is non-existent in the states of the path of seeing, the path of cultivation, and the special paths, or in the states of application, etc., it is said that "omniscience is like space," the third sentence. Thus, it should be understood, etc., and should be practiced in the states of hearing, thinking, and meditating. Among them, the manifestation of mind is uninterrupted and has essence. The mind is unwavering because of the very nature of directly realizing the Dharma nature. Not being stolen is because it is not the object of others, and it should be combined with the meaning of not being lost from correct acceptance, combination, and for the sake of what is to be done. Turning away the mind from the vehicle of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, it is said that the forbearance of subsequent knowledge of suffering is, that it turns away from the grounds of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and enters into omniscience.

It is the practice. What is the opposite of entering into it? Or, turning from not entering to entering, this is the opposite and entering here. These are not doing the real benefit. Similarly, in the third moment, because of being related to subsequent knowledge, it is possible to fall into the realm of hearers and so on, because it is the attainment of the antidote to the three realms. Therefore, it is said that the aspect of reversing from it is explained. By the power of the Dharma's excellent distinction, the limbs of meditation and so on are completely exhausted, so it is said that the subsequent knowledge of suffering is "if they want those" and so on. Here, meditation refers to the nine samadhis and so on that gradually abide. It is because it is manifested for the sake of abiding happily in the present Dharma. Abiding in meditation and not manifesting its fruit, one also becomes very familiar with meditation. He understands the subsequent knowledge by abandoning its limbs, because he contemplates for the sake of knowing that it has become the nature of the antidote to the form and formless realms. Although they enter into meditation, they do not arise by the power of meditation because they hold the objects of the nature that are in accordance with it. In the stage of subsequent knowledge of suffering, it is inappropriate for the Bodhisattva to attain detachment from desire, so it should be connected to the fact that when he desires again, he abides in the practices of conduct and so on. Because of abandoning the body and mind of the nature of non-virtue, it is said that "the forbearance of knowing the Dharma of arising" is "Subhuti, again" and so on. Only by eliminating the conceptualizations to be abandoned by sight, by generating lightness of body and mind, one does not pay much attention to names and so on. Because of the difference between pleasantness of the nature of outer and inner, it is said that there are two: sound and verses. Because of realizing the Dharma of emptiness of one's own nature, even if one does not obtain names and so on, there is no displeasure, so the mind is not distracted. By the power of being skilled in the means of meditating like an illusion, one approaches desire without clinging to appearances.
