Because there is no definite basis for each, it is immeasurable. The Blessed One, knowing that the mind can be indicated, therefore, as before, spoke of two explanations, namely, "All minds that can be indicated," and so forth. "Subhuti, those minds and the nature of mind are shown to be equal," this is because it is shown to be equal by truly knowing it as the nature of illusion. It is the nature of all knowledge to be equally directed, because it is accumulated by the habits of virtue and non-virtue, therefore, it is the nature of mind. Thus, it can be indicated. "Subhuti, without characteristics," and so forth, this is because in reality, it is devoid of its own nature, which arises like a disease, therefore, it is without characteristics. Moreover, since it is unreasonable for the natures of the past and future, etc., to be connected in order as cause and effect, it is actually empty. Since it is not the object of the three eyes of flesh, etc., or all five, the mind that has not appeared is invisible. Thus, it cannot be indicated. As previously stated, because knowledge itself is with obstacles, etc., in order to show the meaning of "How is it said to be reversed?", eight explanations were given, namely, "The mind with obstacles," and so forth, that is, "Those minds are imputed to what does not exist," and so forth. Non-existence, that is, in the way that it does not exist in the manner of arising, etc., therefore, the mind that is imputed and fabricated is empty, it is without nature, but in the conventional, it is subject to the object, it is the other-dependent nature of the object. Thus, because it contradicts valid cognition, it is with obstacles. "Subhuti, those minds are non-dual," and so forth, because they are separated from arising and non-arising, they have become non-dual. In reality, it is non-arising, but in the conventional, it is arising, so it is non-arising and arising. Thus, because it is allowed by valid cognition, it is without obstacles. "Subhuti, the mind with supreme perfect equality," and so forth, because of the manifest clinging to self, etc., it is the mind that has attained the state of being supreme and inferior.

For one who truly understands selflessness, there is no arrogance, and there is no attachment to views such as the view of the aggregates of decay. Therefore, this is unparalleled in the conventional sense. Subhuti, these minds are not even as small as atoms. Because the nature of the mind, in terms of ultimate truth, things are not even as small as atoms. Therefore, just as the state of being held in the state of ordinary beings, it is the nature of self-nature purity. Because it is free from all characteristics such as form, it is without elaboration. Thus, this is the ultimate mind. Subhuti, these minds have inequality and equality, and the faults of birth and so on are unequal. Because of the unequal grasping and equality, merely holding it, the mind that wanders outward is distracted, and because the mind is not equally dwelling, it is not focused on one point, so the mind is not equally dwelling. Subhuti, these minds have equality and equality, and so on. All the inequalities of faults are unreasonable, equality is the realm of Dharma, and being born with it is the same, so it is equality. Returning from distraction is therefore equal dwelling. Thus, the mind that dwells equally, its nature is not truly existent, so it is the same as space. Subhuti, these minds are self-liberated and so on. Because it is unborn in accordance with reason, these minds are self-liberated. Because it is a nature without establishment, it is without self-nature. Therefore, there is no liberation after bondage, so the mind is not liberated. The mind is equal. Because the mind is free from the nature of one and many, there is no mind in the three times. The Tathagata does not see, therefore, the self-nature is free from the two obscurations, so it is liberation. Manifestation of good distinction
