Thus, in the realms of form and formlessness, those to be abandoned by the sight of the four truths, excluding the eight types of anger, are seventy-two. In general, on the ground, one abandons one hundred and twelve afflictions to be abandoned by sight, because the realization of the truths is one. Therefore, the first moment is the path of seeing. Other than that, from the second moment onwards, up to the uninterrupted path spoken of as vajra-like samadhi, from which one immediately attains the all-illuminating light of the Buddha, these are said to be the path of cultivation because of realizing the dharmadhatu separately in the ultimate meaning and so on. In that path, one also gradually abandons sixteen afflictions as appropriate. For example, attachment, anger, pride, ignorance, the view of the aggregates as a real self, and the view of holding to extremes, these are the six that operate in the desire realm. When anger is removed from these, there are ten that operate in the form and formless realms. The ten grounds, such as the Joyful Ground, are established by the divisions of the dharmas that are fully practiced on the paths of seeing and cultivation. Moreover, whatever dharma is practiced on any ground, as long as it is not complete, it is that ground; and when it is complete, it should be known as another ground. These dharmas that are practiced are taught in the Twenty-five Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom Sutra. For example, perfectly accomplishing all virtuous root dharmas, fully upholding the Mahayana dharma for the sake of sentient beings, Cultivating the four immeasurables, completely giving away all possessions through non-conceptual yoga, pleasing virtuous friends, seeking all objects of the holy dharma without regard for the Hearer Vehicle, constantly disliking the household life, in all aspects, not separating from the thought of the unsurpassed Buddha's body, fully revealing the holy dharma such as the sutras as they are, and fulfilling the meaning of vows. These are the ten dharmas that fully purify the distinctions of causes, and because they should be generated in all aspects, they are the very nature.

Only those who fully practice the characteristics distinguished by non-attachment, initially attain the first ground, the Joyful Ground, in order to gain great joy by realizing the suchness of phenomena that have not arisen before. As it is said: Through ten kinds of complete practice, one will attain the first ground, the nature of thought and benefit, and equality of mind towards sentient beings, generosity and reliance on spiritual friends, and seeking the aim of the true Dharma, constantly the nature of renunciation, and the joy of wanting to honor the Buddha, teaching the Dharma and truth, the word is considered the tenth. These non-attaching natures should be known as complete practice. As it is said. Accumulating virtuous dharmas, and doing the benefit of sentient beings, and guarding the precepts, being completely pure in all aspects, completely abandoning the thoughts of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and not wasting the benefit of others, and having no mind of harming sentient beings, and having no regret for maturing sentient beings, and being willing to stay in hells for a long time for the benefit of one sentient being, and being respectful to all beings, and from the guru, practicing and regarding as a teacher the words taught by him, and without other activities, striving and rejoicing in the perfections such as generosity, such complete practice, having practiced completely as before, through eight special dharmas, being free from all defilements of observing morality, one attains the second ground, the Stainless Ground. As it is said: The patience and, forbearance made by morality, extreme joy and great compassion, respect for the guru and respectful listening, the eighth is diligence in generosity and so on. This is the mantra to be held. With the intention of holding the Dharma spoken by all the Buddhas, and vigorously teaching the Dharma without regard to gain and honor, and dedicating the dharmas to that place in order to purify the Buddha-field, and never being tired of doing the benefit of sentient beings, and having shame and embarrassment when comparing oneself and others to the thoughts of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, such complete
