If someone asks, since Śrāvakas and others are not necessarily of a certain lineage, isn't the classification of lineages allowed to be different? The answer is: In order to realize the noble Dharma in the same way as the stages of realization of the Śrāvakayāna and other vehicles, the name of lineage is applied by establishing the Dharmadhātu as the nature of the cause, this is the answer. Furthermore, just as vessels such as pots, which are manifestly made from the same clay and fired by the same flame, are different because they serve as containers for dirt and food, similarly, the Dharma that is relied upon is included in the three vehicles, and what is to be realized is different, therefore there is no fault in designating the reliances as different. As it is said: Because the Dharmadhātu is without difference, Lineages cannot be different. By the distinctions of the Dharma that is relied upon, Its divisions are completely spoken. This is what was said. The definitive word is that, in the sense of saving qualities, the Dharmadhātu is called lineage, because those qualities are born and arise from it, this is the concluding word. Therefore, all noble beings are distinguished by the unconditioned, the definitive word is that which precedes things such as generating bodhicitta, liberation, and conformity with the definitive division. Then, shouldn't the lineage be explained first? Why is it explained in this way? That is true, but that is the order of meaning, and this is because the result is spoken first and the cause is shown later, so it is the order of explanation, there is no fault. Under the support, someone wonders, what is the object of the Bodhisattva who has become the support of practice as described above? In order to show the object, it is said, "Subhūti, the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva is all dharmas," and so on. Because in order to comprehend all the dharmas that have become the object of focus, in order to follow the meaning of realization, if one does not go beyond the two truths and truly focuses, then when one becomes unattached, by realizing the purity of the object of focus, one will manifest the unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment, otherwise it is not possible, therefore for Bodhi

It is said that a Bodhisattva is so named because all his own purposes are perfectly fulfilled through the thought of the object of focus. Here, firstly, in general, all virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral dharmas are, in order, the very conduct of asceticism, and killing and so on, and neutral bodily actions and so on. Thus, having divided them into three types, one meditates on what is to be adopted, what is to be abandoned, and what is to be left in equanimity. Then, again, starting from what is to be adopted, one thinks that the five aggregates of appropriation and so on, which are included in the worldly path, are worldly, and the four meditations and so on, which are included in the correct noble path, are supramundane. Among these, since they are not the enemies of the view of self, the five aggregates of appropriation and so on are contaminated, while the supramundane phenomena such as the intervening, which are the enemies of the view of self, are uncontaminated, and one ascertains that they are to be abandoned and adopted. Therefore, starting from the uncontaminated, those that depend on causes and conditions, included in the desire realm, such as the aspects of enlightenment, are conventionally compounded, while those that do not depend on causes and are not included in the three realms, such as suchness, are ultimately uncompounded, and one meditates on them as two types. Then, distinguishing by the uncompounded, the four meditations and so on that arise from the continuum of all noble beings are common dharmas, while the dharmas that arise from the continuum of the perfectly enlightened Buddha, such as the ten powers, are uncommon dharmas, and one meditates on them as two types. Through such a gradual realization, one focuses on all dharmas as if they were illusions, and therefore one should know that the object of focus is only these eleven types. The scriptures that explain the order of objects of focus as described above appear clearly only in the Twenty-Five Thousand Verses and so on, and should not be misunderstood. As it is said: The object of focus is all dharmas, which are virtues and so on, are worldly, are realizations, and so on.

Those who desire to transcend the world, and the laws with and without outflows, and the conditioned and unconditioned, the common laws of disciples, and the uncommon laws of the Tathagata. Thus it is said. If someone thinks that the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu, which is always pure and non-dual, is the object of focus, then, since it is always pure, how can it be said that it goes from low to high in the distinction of purity? The water element, gold, and the sky, etc., are considered to be as pure as purity. If someone says this, then purity is the wisdom of Suchness, because it is clinging to the difference of the antidote, and is driven by the meaning of clinging to the unfavorable side. Therefore, since there is no abandonment of the discriminating thoughts of the unfavorable and the antidote side, it will fall into becoming purity of one aspect. Even according to your view, Subhuti, the object of focus of all-knowingness is non-thing, then how can it be the ultimate object of focus? There is no fault in this, because the non-thing that follows reason is said to be the true conventional truth, and obscuring the nature of Suchness, gradually realizing it like an illusion, is purity. In this way, the nature becomes the main thing, which is the lineage; the change becomes the main thing, which is the object of focus. Therefore, for both being both, there is no refutation, which is the difference between the nature of the basis and the object of focus. There are many things to say about establishing the object of focus, but here it is enough to say it extremely extensively, as said by the noble Vimuktisena. For the Bodhisattva who merely follows the object of focus and says that he has realized the object of focus, what necessary action is there? If someone thinks this way, in order to show the necessary action, the Blessed One said, "For what reason," etc. The so-called "For what reason" means for what necessity, the Blessed One answered that for those who become Bodhisattvas, they are called Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, which is "sentient beings," etc. The so-called "great aggregate of sentient beings" means the measure of the collection of sentient beings.
